The 30th Anniversary Conference of the UNITWIN/UNESCO Chairs Program to be held at the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Headquarters in Paris, France, 3-4 November 2022 Atsufumi Yokoi, Senior Vice President of Okayama University (Special Mission (Global Engagement Strategy)), UNESCO Chairholder, and others were invited to participate in the conference as panelists.
This UNESCO conference was held in a hybrid format, with over 500 UNESCO Chairs from around the world, as well as relevant parties from the United Nations/international organizations, national governments, universities/research institutes, etc. At the opening, Audrey Azoulay, Director-General of UNESCO, gave a ceremonial address. Over the two days, through plenary sessions, thematic sessions, and informal meetings, the achievements of UNITWIN/UNESCO Chairs over the past 30 years and There was a lively exchange of views on future
cross-sectoral collaboration.

Informal meeting of UNESCO Chairs on ESD
Senior Vice President Yokoi was on stage as a panelist in the session on the “Future of Higher Education” on the second day. Together with panelists from the United Nations, international organizations, and universities representing each of the five continents, we had lively discussions with the participants on how universities should contribute to the well-being of mankind and the planet.
