National University Corporation Okayama University (Headquarters: Tsushima Naka, Kita-ku, Okayama City; President: Hiroshi Makino) announced on November 8, 2022, as part of the activities of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology’s “Study in Japan Overseas Base Collaboration Promotion Project (Southeast Asia)”. The “My University Introduction” presentation contest was held online in English, and Okayama University’s representative team won the Audience Award (1st place in viewer votes).
This contest is co-sponsored by the Six National Universities International Collaboration Organization (Chiba University, Niigata University, Kanazawa University, Okayama University, Nagasaki University, Kumamoto University), which is a partner organization of the Study in Japan Overseas Base Collaboration Promotion Project, and is aimed at the entire ASEAN region. The purpose of the event was to spread the appeal of Japanese universities and to provide
opportunities for student exchange between Japan and ASEAN. The contest was attended by 14 students from six national universities and 64 viewers from ASEAN.

At the beginning of the contest, Vice President Takayoshi Suzuki (in charge of international affairs) gave a speech on behalf of the organizers and encouraged the representative students of each university. Professor Isao Kadota of the Faculty of Natural Sciences also participated as a judge.
From Okayama University, Risa Shigeru (2nd year, Faculty of Medicine), Riho Okada (2nd year, Global Discovery Program), and Ryoka Wada (2nd year, Faculty of Law), who belong to the Global Human Resource Development Special Course. presented the appeal of Okayama University in a light-hearted presentation in the form of a quiz show on behalf of the university.
In this contest, the jury prize was decided based on the scores of the judges, and the audience prize was decided based on the popularity vote of viewers from ASEAN. . After the contest, an exchange meeting was held with viewers from ASEAN.
Students who participated in this contest commented, “I was able to hear stories from other universities, and there were many activities that I thought would be great if I could do them at Okayama
University.” It was good that they asked me a lot of questions, and I was able to interact with them a lot, and I also learned a lot about myself.”
In order to attract excellent international students from ASEAN, we will continue to communicate the appeal of Japanese universities and studying in Japan through the Study in Japan Overseas Base
Collaboration Promotion Project.
〇Study in Japan Overseas Base Collaboration Promotion Project (Southeast Asia) Okayama University has been entrusted with the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology’s “Study in Japan Overseas Base Collaboration Promotion Project (Southeast Asia)” since 2019, and is promoting the project with the goal of increasing the number of international students from ASEAN by 1.5 times over the next five years. . In 2014, Okayama University was selected for the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology’s “Study Abroad Coordinator Assignment Project (Myanmar).” In 2018, the name of the project was changed to “Study in Japan Overseas Base Collaboration Promotion Project”, and the target area was expanded to 10 ASEAN countries. Currently, in addition to Myanmar (Yangon, Mandalay) and Bangkok, Thailand, we have offices in Phnom Penh, Cambodia and Vientiane, Laos, and are working on business to attract excellent international students from ASEAN.
