Kedama Co., Ltd.
[Open in Shibuya Ward] To make cat protection activities more accessible and sustainable. Started crowdfunding for “NE COWORK.”, a co-working space that watches over protected cats.
While working surrounded by cats, we will challenge crowdfunding “CAMPFIRE” to spread the coworking space that can contribute to the happiness of cats.
Kedama Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo, CEO Tomoki Higashimori), whose mission is to “deepen the bonds between people and animals and create a society where people can live healthy and prosperous lives” Recruitment of members of the working space “NE COWROK.” has started on November 22, 2022 at crowdfunding CAMPFIRE. To aim for a society that does not take the option of culling In recent years, the number of cats and dogs culled has decreased due to the influence of various companies and media outlets, but the reality is that more than 20,000 cats and dogs are still culled each year. . Furthermore, there is a reality that cats occupy more than 70% of them.

Governments, private protection groups, and individual activists are working toward the goal of culling “0”, and in recent years, many private companies have begun to face this problem in order to support such groups. The form of support in which donations are also becoming established.
However, the reality is that people, places, and funds are all in a tight state. Among them, in order to give more sheltered cats a place to stay, the current situation is that there is an overwhelming lack of human intervention and awareness of conservation activities. In order to create a society that does not take the option of culling, we believe that the participation and awareness of more “people” are essential for the essential solution.
Making conservation activities more accessible to humans and cats There is an increasing awareness of donations to animal welfare groups that carry out conservation activities, and places such as cafes with protected cats are increasing. On the other hand, there are few services and opportunities to actually participate in conservation activities. ‘ came up a lot.
Can you tell us what you can do for a rescue cat, not just “keeping”? Is it possible to create an environment where people can participate in protective cat activities in a style that blends into their daily lives?
With that in mind, we created NE COWORK., a co-working space where you can participate in rescue cat activities while working.
By interacting with protected cats who are waiting for new families, not only can cats and people be happy, but the fees we receive at the time of use will support the cats in front of us.
Above all, by making a part of the daily life of the workplace a place for rescue cat activities, not only specific people who are interested in rescue cat activities, but also a wide range of people, such as those who cannot keep pets in rental housing. We want to make it a place where we can participate.
At NE COWORK., we will keep around 5 rescued cats at all times and operate a coworking space while recruiting new families to welcome the cats.
We are also considering holding events and workshops using this space in collaboration with conservation groups, although it is still in the conceptual stage.
The money received from this crowdfunding
Food and medical expenses for protected cats spent in coworking space Expenses for purchasing items necessary for daily care
Creating an environment that everyone can use more comfortably Activity funds for NE COWORK.
I will use it as important.
While making sure that this system, which handles everything from protection to transfer, works well, I hope that more people will be involved in rescue cat activities and take an interest in the situation in which cats are placed.
And I hope that it will be a place where rescued cats can feel the warmth and security of interacting with people.
The place called “NE COWORK.” became a catalyst for conservation activities to become a part of everyday life.
We aim to reduce the number of cats that are euthanized by creating a world where the participation and awareness of “people” are increasing more than ever.
