This issue features Professor Akihiko Saito, Department of Pediatrics, Graduate School of Medical and Dental Sciences, Niigata University. Dr. Saito was a pioneer in the field of pediatric infectious diseases in Japan, and was the first doctor to create a vaccination schedule for all children born in Japan, mainly through the activities of the Japan Pediatric Society. When I was a resident at St. Luke’s International Hospital, I decided to study abroad after hearing a poignant comment from American infectious disease specialist Makoto Aoki. I became a specialist. After returning to Japan, he established the Department of Infectious Diseases at the National Center for Child Health and Development. The story of Mr. Saito, who went through a tough training period in Los Angeles during the poorest period of his life as a student abroad, and became a gatekeeper of infectious diseases by spreading the importance of vaccination in Japan, where the concept of simultaneous vaccination is not yet widespread. Please take a look.
In addition, “Special Feature -” featured the “Organization for Promotion of Community Health Care (JCHO),” which was established in 2014. JCHO has 57 hospitals nationwide with 15,227 beds and is responsible for regional medical care. This year, with the appointment of Mr. Shuichi Yamamoto as the second president in place of Mr. Shigeru Omi, we asked about JCHO’s six new pillars and efforts to reform the way doctors work. In the “Cross Talk Special Edition”, the theme is “Future ways of disseminating information for doctors”. We had a talk with Mr. Kento Yamamoto, the author “Keiyu-sensei”. We asked the two, who are active in various media such as TV, newspapers, and SNS, to talk about the significance of doctors disseminating information and how to use the media. “Hoshiuri Bookstore Nakanodo” introduces three top-level medical books on hormones, immunity, and skin. In the bimonthly series “Takehiro Ofuji’s Tale of Qatar Adventures”, we take up one of the differences in working styles between Japan and Qatar: the ratio of work to life.
This month, we are introducing doctors and medical corporations who are active all over the country from various perspectives. Please take a look.
