We believe that Japan needs to accelerate its movement towards a circular economy, not only from the worsening resource problem, but also from the context of decarbonization. We believe that Recotech’s POOL system, which visualizes waste and makes it possible to use waste that has been landfilled or incinerated as a resource, is one of the most important elements for the transition to a circular economy. We also expect that it will be used for various resources. Through this investment, we will support the expansion of resource circulation using the POOL system and contribute to the creation of environmental, economic, and social value through the transition to a circular economy.
About resource circulation platform “POOL”
“POOL” is a resource recycling platform that provides information such as traceability necessary for manufacturers to use in their own products. By easily linking information with smartphones and tablets in all processes, from generation of waste to transportation and recycling, recycling can be achieved through the “from where” and “what kind of process” that are indispensable for utilizing recycled materials. We provide traceability information and CO2 emissions information for Scope 3 categories 1, 5 and 12.
POOL PROJECT TOKYO, which was released in November 2021 and has been promoting the introduction and expansion of plastics discarded from commercial facilities in Tokyo as the main target resource, was also adopted in the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Innovative Technology / Recycling Model Promotion Project in the same month. it was done. Utilizing “POOL”, we recycle the resources collected from each base, and are working to further popularize POOL resin, which is certified to be 100% domestically produced PCR*1 material.
It is possible to design a resource circulation supply chain that continuously supplies more than 20,000 tons*² of disposable plastic per day to manufacturers as PCR materials in order to shift from a city that consumes a large amount of plastic to a city that supplies a large amount. To do.

Through this collaboration with Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Bank, we will focus on the following three points.
1. Functional improvement for expanding the bases where “POOL” is introduced We will work on improving the UI/UX to make it easier and easier to use for each stakeholder in the supply chain, which is essential for realizing resource recycling.
2. Nationwide expansion of business to popularize PCR materials In order to circulate and supply more than 20,000 tons of PCR materials per year by 2024, we will strengthen cooperation among stakeholders and develop resource collection, storage, and recycling bases nationwide.
3. Expansion of types of resources handled
In addition to plastic resources, we will work on designing the circulation of all kinds of resources, such as organic substances, iron, non-ferrous metals, and precious metals.
