Considering the shrinking domestic market for agricultural products due to Japan’s declining population, declining birthrate and aging population, expanding exports of Japanese agricultural products is an important issue. Among them, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries is taking various measures with the target value of 2 trillion yen in exports of agricultural, forestry and fishery products and foods in 2025. 2 trillion yen, a significant increase.
The top destinations for exporting agricultural products in 2021 (based on value) are Hong Kong, China, the United States, and Taiwan, with Asian countries and regions at the center. In the Asian market, it is considered important to show the relative superiority of products made in Japan over products made in other regions as a Japan brand. In Taiwan, which is an important export destination, we will report on the understanding of consumers’ purchasing behavior of grapes and the evaluation of Japanese grapes, using grapes that are expected to increase in future exports.
