A program to acquire the ability to imagine the future and business ideas using “transition design” that encourages social change. Today, economic development aimed at coexistence of corporate activities and society, so-called “sustainable development,” is demanded worldwide. In addition, looking at Japan, it is pointed out that there is a shortage of new businesses that bring high added value from a long-term perspective, and that there is a lack of systems to create new businesses.
We believe that what is necessary for sustainable corporate activities that involve these highly complex global issues and various
stakeholders is a long-term “vision” that connects society, the economy, the natural environment, and business activities. I believe that it is the presence of a leader who can draw a picture and lead it to implementation through dialogue and collaboration with stakeholders inside and outside the company. The Transition Leaders Program aims to develop such next-generation leaders.

Program overview
The “Transition Leaders Program” uses the latest design approach, “Transition Design,” through lectures and workshops given by a diverse group of instructors for a total of 8 sessions to draw a vision of the coexistence of society and companies. You will learn the power of conception and the power of business conception to create a business from the consumer’s point of view. By putting the learned approaches into practice in their own companies, participants will support the creation of new businesses that will bring about social change. ■ What is transition design?
Transition design envisions a long-term vision for the future and develops a variety of bottom-up solutions to deal with the complex global challenges facing society in the 21st century, such as climate change, resource depletion, and epidemic pandemics. It is the latest design approach that is being researched as a method to promote the transition to a sustainable society by bringing together various activities. In 2015, Carnegie Mellon University’s School of Design proposed it as a theory for designing the transition of social-scale values in response to huge global-scale problems.

In the lecture, based on the approach of transition design, we will incorporate the methods that Loftwork Inc. has cultivated in co-creation projects with various clients, creators, and experts. The main focus is on learning the skills and approaches that can create businesses while crossing various departments and involving external stakeholders.
In addition, rather than just learning, we aim to implement the approaches that participants have learned in their own companies, transform their companies, and create businesses.
