The city’s cultural property is designated as a national important cultural property
On November 18, 2020 (Friday), the Cultural Council of Japan held a meeting to designate Toyonaka City’s designated cultural property, “Landscape by Ito Jakuchu” (owned by Saifukuji Temple) as an important cultural property. submitted to the Minister of Science.
The creator, Ito Jakuchu, is said to have temporarily stayed at Saifuku-ji Temple, and the fusuma painting “Saboten Gunkeizu”, which is one of Jakuchu’s representative works and has already been designated as an important cultural property, and “Renchizu” and other paintings have also been handed down.
“Ito Jakuchu’s landscape painting” is a rare example for Jakuchu, who specializes in the subject of animals and plants, and only a few works, including this one, have been confirmed. It is also noteworthy that religious content such as temple gates and monks is drawn unlike general landscape paintings.
It has been pointed out that this work was created in the same year as the “Sennin Palm Flock” and that the drawing paper, size, and expression technique are similar to “Sennin Palm Flock” and “Lotus Pond”. It is highly likely that it is a series of productions, and it is necessary to protect it as a whole, so it was decided to be additionally designated.
