【12/18(日)開催】「タネヒコーキ」─生き物から学ぶものづくり《プレミアムワークショップ》

“Kodomo no Kagaku”, a scientific magazine for elementary and junior high school students, holds online events to provide readers with various scientific experiences. In collaboration with NEST LAB., a talent discovery research institute for elementary and junior high school students, we have opened a monthly premium workshop series where you can learn familiar science, manufacturing, technology, and sustainable science.
On December 18th (Sunday), as the third installment, we will hold an online workshop to research the abilities of “plant seeds” and develop a plane that flies well.
The “glider” that allows us to fly freely in the sky was actually created by imitating the movement of a certain plant. Survival strategies of CREATURES are hidden there. In this workshop, while learning about the wonders of “plant seeds”, we will learn how to develop a plane of a higher level, and learn the secrets of research and development that make use of the special powers of living things in manufacturing. .
Also, as a special guest, Associate Professor Takuya Umedate, Faculty of Textile Science and Technology, Shinshu University will appear. Learn about research and development that utilizes the abilities of living organisms from Professor Umedate, who developed an
unprecedented robot hand using the movements of caterpillars. [Image 2

Our guest, Dr. Umedate, is researching and developing a technology that enables “in-hand manipulation,” which changes the posture of an object while grasping it, by creating flexible fingers that can perform peristaltic movements like a caterpillar.
The premium workshop series after January will be held as follows. [January] “DNA Extraction” – Let’s see your own DNA with your own eyes [February] “Coral Reef Lab” – Revealing the secrets of Okinawa’s sea at home!? [March] “Original Special Folding Lamp” – Paradise of Origami and Light By becoming a premium member of the children’s science website “Cocanet”, you can attend monthly workshops.
