Jointly with Hokuriku Electric Power Transmission and Distribution Co., Ltd., held a demonstration test of social infrastructure maintenance using gamification, and held a citizen participation event “Telepole Holy Battle in 3 Hokuriku Cities”
-Starting a new attempt to improve the efficiency of maintenance and management of power distribution facilities by collecting photos of utility poles with the power of citizens-

The Whole Earth Foundation (hereafter, WEF), an NPO organization that builds, provides, and operates a citizen-participation infrastructure information platform, has recently partnered with Hokuriku Electric Power Transmission and Distribution Co., Ltd. (Head office:
Ushijima-cho, Toyama City, President Kazuya Tanada) Jointly, by utilizing gamification, citizens will collect photographs of utility poles and hold a citizen-participation event, “The Holy Battle of Utility Poles in Three Hokuriku Cities,” as a demonstration test to improve the efficiency of maintenance and management of power distribution facilities. It will be implemented in the three cities where it is located (Fukui City, Fukui Prefecture, Toyama City, Toyama Prefecture, and Kanazawa City, Ishikawa Prefecture).
Utility Pole Holy War in Fukui City, Fukui Prefecture: November 25 (Friday) to 29 (Tuesday), 2022
Utility Pole Holy War in Toyama City, Toyama Prefecture: December 2nd (Friday) to 6th (Tuesday), 2022

The “Telegraph Pole Holy War” is an event in which the WEF’s social contribution type Web3 application “TEKKON” is used to take pictures of utility poles in designated areas of each city and compete for the number of posts. In this event, we aim to complete photographs of 1,000 utility poles in Fukui City, 3,000 in Toyama City, and 3,000 in Kanazawa City.
Through joint demonstration tests with Hokuriku Electric Power Transmission and Distribution Co., Ltd., which conducts maintenance and management activities such as patrols and repair work for the enormous amount of power distribution facilities that are stretched around the area every day for the purpose of stable power supply. , We will verify how the posted utility pole photos can be used to improve the efficiency of maintenance and management of power distribution equipment.
Up until now, the WEF has been co-sponsoring with local governments (Kaga City, Ishikawa Prefecture and Mishima City, Shizuoka Prefecture) to hold citizen-participation events for manholes under the title “Manhole Crusade”. Posted manhole information is returned to local governments and water utilities, and the aim is to improve the efficiency of maintenance and management of manhole covers, which have become a problem of aging, such as replacing damaged covers. These initiatives, called “Civic Tech”, which combines civic (citizens) and tech (technology), are attracting attention as an advanced case where citizens aim to solve social issues using technology such as IT. The “Utilities Holy War” to be held this time will be the first attempt to designate “electric poles” as the target infrastructure as an initiative following these. Compete for points that can be earned according to the number of photos taken and posted of utility poles, and the top winners will receive an Amazon gift card as a prize. Event Details
