‣Placement of “Young Carer Support Advisors” who can manage the overall support for young carers in Yamanashi Prefecture
‣ Establishment of new consultation desks such as SNS and peer support ‣Former young carers visit schools to conduct awareness-raising activities for students and teachers
‣Enlightenment using TV commercials, YouTube, and TikTok for citizens to understand young carers

(Reference) About the current situation of young carers in Yamanashi Prefecture and efforts to support them
Last year, for the first time in Japan, Yamanashi Prefecture conducted a nationwide survey of all children from the 6th grade of elementary school to the 3rd grade of high school, and found that about 1 in 16 children answered that they have a family member who takes care of them. On the other hand, about 1 in 66 children answered that they were “young carers”, revealing that many children are not aware that they are young carers.

In Yamanashi Prefecture, for the first time in the country, we have developed support for young carers and their families, such as formulating “Young Carer Support Guidelines”.
