This stage started with an introduction on the radio
Early summer of 2021
Nippon Broadcasting personality Masahiko Ueyanagi received a book from Nagasaki Broadcasting announcer Hitoshi Murayama.
Ueyanagi has his own program “Ueyanagi Masahiko Asaborake” (Monday 5 am to 6 am, Tuesday to Friday 4:30 am to 6 am Nippon Broadcasting only from 5:00 to 6:00 am) introduced the “Midnight Radio Station”. People who are about to start their day. A person who is finally about to finish the work from yesterday. The person listening in the car. The person listening in the hospital room.
For those early morning listeners, speak slowly
This was the beginning of the stage adaptation of a slightly mysterious and heartwarming story about the struggles of people working at a radio station, portrayed by an active announcer. ・・・・

“This is the radio”
Yoichi said quietly.
“Radio is certainly less influential than television because it’s a one-on-one medium, for better or worse.
But when it comes down to it… when the power is out, it’s pitch black, and the phone doesn’t work… there’s no more reliable and reassuring medium.
I think of the radio as a lifeline of the heart.”
・・・From the main text
[March 22nd is the day radio broadcasting started in Japan]
Radio broadcasting began in Japan on March 22, 1925.
On March 22nd, 2023, 98 years after that, strangely enough, we will celebrate the final performance in Nagasaki.
This time, since NBC Nagasaki Broadcasting, to which the author, Mr. Murayama belongs, celebrated its 70th anniversary, we chose Nagasaki as the final performance venue.
A story set in a radio station, triggered by the radio, welcomes the end of the day on the day the radio broadcast started.
Please feel this mysterious connection in this work.
Yu Kamogawa, a newcomer announcer at a local station, is feeling depressed after being transferred from TV to radio. At that point, the cheerful director Yoichi Hasuike suddenly selects him to host a new program that starts at midnight. In addition, one night when preparations were being made for the first broadcast of the program, a sudden downpour caused an isolated village to take on the important role of distributing disaster information.
In the midst of this slapstick, Yoichi’s outrageous secret comes to light. In fact, Yoichi passed away 30 years ago and was still a young ghost director in charge of late-night programs!
With Kasumi Yamano joining as an assistant, the new program will finally start, but immediately after the program airs, strange events begin to occur one after another…
Script/Director: Kirishima Rock
I’m Kirishima, and I’ll be in charge of the script and direction for the stage play “Midnight Radio Station”.
I usually write an original script and direct it, so this is the first time I’ve been able to direct a story with an original story as a script for a play like this time.
So I’m more nervous than usual.
In staging a completed novel in a play, Mr. Hitoshi Murayama, the author of the original work, is important in the story, and it is interesting that it can be realized only because it is a live stage without losing its characteristics. I would like to pursue this together with the cast and staff.
Thank you very much.
Yoichi Hasuike: Yuta Fukuda
I’m going to play the role of a ghost. This is Yuta Fukuda from FO-YU. When I do a play, there are times when I have to do something to create a role, but as expected, I don’t think I can go to the afterlife, so I’m the closest to my father, who passed away a few years ago. I would like to think about
I’m in tears.
The other world and this world are connected, and it seems that it will be a work where you can strongly feel “human feelings”. thank you.
The role of Yu Kamogawa: Bunichi Hamanaka
I’m Bunichi Hamanaka, who will be appearing on the stage play “Radio Station at midnight”.
This time, I would like to enjoy it with Fuku-chan from Fo-yu. Please look forward to how this mysterious story will unfold. -Performance overview-
