California is known as one of the best gastronomic destinations in America. On December 5th, the Michelin Guide was announced at the “Peterson Automotive Museum” in Los Angeles, and 100 new Michelin-starred restaurants were born in California.

100 new Michelin-starred restaurants are born in California, the land of gastronomy!
“Michelin Guide California 2022” announced
California is known as one of the best gastronomic destinations in America. On December 5th, the Michelin Guide was announced at the “Peterson Automotive Museum” in Los Angeles, and 100 new Michelin-starred restaurants were born in California.
A total of 599 restaurants were listed in the 4th edition of the Michelin Guide California. 11 of them have been awarded Michelin Green Stars.
The Michelin Green Star is an evaluation of restaurants that actively engage in sustainable gastronomy.
Currently, there are only 13 restaurants in North America with a Michelin Green Star, and 11 of them are in California.
The Michelin Guide California is the California version of the world-renowned restaurant guide, and not only includes world-wide starred restaurants, but also Bib Gourmand (a restaurant rated as satisfying more than the price). and Michelin Plate (restaurants that offer dishes that meet Michelin standards) recommended restaurants are also posted.
Areas covered include Los Angeles, Santa Monica, West Hollywood, Beverly Hills, San Francisco Bay Area, Sacramento, Monterey, Santa Barbara, Napa Valley, Sonoma County, Mendocino and San Diego. Discover the variety of gastronomic delights that can be found in many California cities.

★ San Diego’s “Addison” newly won three stars.
With this, 7 out of 14 restaurants in the United States have 3 stars in California.
★17 new 1-star restaurants are now available.
Recognized restaurants are located in Los Angeles, Montecito, Santa Monica, Geyserville, Sacramento, San Francisco, St. Helena and Paso Robles.
★15 new Bib Gourmand awards.
The Bib Gourmand is a restaurant that has been evaluated for offering “food that gives you more satisfaction than the price”.
★The following special prizes have been awarded.
– Michelin Sommelier Award – Vincent Moreau (“PRESS”, St. Helena) – Michelin Exceptional Cocktail Award – Bar Team (Manzke, Los Angeles) -Michelin Young Chef Award-David Yoshimura (“Nisei” in San Francisco) All restaurants have been judged and awarded by Michelin’s own independent research and selection programme.
Carolyn Vetteter, President and CEO of the California Tourism Board, also made the following statement, praising the award-winning restaurants and chefs.
“The world’s top chefs and restaurants are proof that California has a diverse and creative culinary scene.
From famous three-star restaurants to lesser known taco joints, California’s gastronomy is fueled by innovative creativity and a relentless pursuit of our state’s diversity.
Accreditation by the Michelin Guide is the highest honor in the restaurant industry. All chefs and restaurateurs featured in the Michelin Guide California should be proud to serve the gastronomic passions of Californians and tourists.”
