Students from the Faculty of Commerce, Chuo University developed a handprint and footprint block jointly with craftsmen from Kosuge Village, Yamanashi Prefecture, as part of a class that aims to solve local problems from a business perspective in order to build a sustainable society. It is a product that combines a block calendar with a photo frame made of wood from Kosuge Village with a baby’s handprint and footprint plate that can be pasted anywhere you like. By laser-engraving all the numbers, names, and dates of birth on the block calendar, including the handprints and footprints, we have realized a product that can be used forever.

Development process
When it became difficult to “touch hands” due to the corona crisis, I was keenly aware that actions that had been taken for granted until now were actually very important communication tools. I also learned that there are many families who cannot let their babies born at the same time meet their grandparents who live far away. Born from this experience, we wanted to create a product that leaves memories and can be shared with loved ones. I decided to make a product.
And I came up with the idea of ​​a block calendar with laser-printed handprints and footprints, because I wanted to make something that blends into everyday life, not just a decoration like a photo frame, but something that you can touch and feel close to every day. Details about this release:
