Nippon Cultural Broadcasting will broadcast a special program “Shogo Akiyama hits and protects and talks” featuring Shogo Akiyama of Hiroshima Toyo Carp from 8:00 pm on Tuesday, December 27th. This is the second time that Akiyama will be the sole personality of a radio program following last year.

This program is a special program featuring Shogo Akiyama, who returned from the United States during the 2022 season and transferred to the Hiroshima Toyo Carp after challenging the Saitama Seibu Lions to the major leagues in 2020. Akiyama has appeared in the New Year special programs in 2016, 2018, and 2020 in a dialogue format with an interviewer, and served as the first solo personality in the special program at the end of last year. In this special program, it has been decided that comedian Reiji Nakagawa, who professes to be a fan of the Saitama Seibu Lions, will appear as a guest.
In the program, he will reveal what he has gained, regrets, and feelings from two and a half seasons of major league challenges. In addition, he talked about how he received an offer from the Hiroshima Toyo Carp instead of his old home, the Saitama Seibu Lions, and what he thought before making the decision to transfer, his thoughts on making a fresh start in the Central League, which will be his new home, and how he moved from the United States to Japan. Reiji will ask Akiyama, who can now talk about what he felt was difficult after returning to the baseball world. It is a one-hour program where you can feel the charm of Akiyama, who loves the radio and does not just hit and defend.
