Outline of “GREEN UP KASHIWA”
“GREEN UP KASHIWA” was designed with the theme of “greenery and children”, and was planned with the aim of creating a space where all citizens, from children to adults, can relax, have fun, and enrich their daily lives.
This space consists of three areas: “KASHIWA GREEN PARK”, “All Good Garden” and “Kids Playground”.

Background of creating bustling space
In 2022, social experiments are being conducted to create bustle by creating pedestrian zones in various parts of Japan, such as in front of Sendai City Hall in Miyagi Prefecture and in front of Nankai Namba Station in Osaka Prefecture.
Prior to this move, Kashiwa City has been conducting a social experiment since 2019 to create a lively space where many people can stay by installing furniture such as artificial turf and chairs on the double deck of Kashiwa Station’s east exit. Since this social experiment produced a certain amount of results, we decided to develop and open “GREEN UP KASHIWA” as a permanent bustling space.

The double deck at the east exit of Kashiwa Station will be updated to KASHIWA GREEN PARK, an attractive three-dimensional space where you can fully enjoy the four seasons with various plants, benches that color the space, and lighting. A stage will be set up, and in the future, we plan to hold seasonal events such as live music
performances and integrated use of the entire double deck at the east exit of Kashiwa Station.
The area around the stage set up in the fountain area of the former Sogo Kashiwa store main building will open in advance on Saturday, December 3, and the entire area is scheduled to be completed around mid-February 2023. Also, for a limited time from December 10th (Sat) to December 25th (Sun), we will set up a Christmas photo spot using the world’s first frameless transparent dome “Aura Dome”.

The “Kids Playground”, which will open at the loading entrance on the 1st floor of the former Sogo building, is a space for children. In addition to installing playground equipment for the first time in a public space created by JAKUETS x Akira Minagawa, we aimed to create a space where visitors can spend hours playing, including art for children and a drawing blackboard. In addition, there are benches for parents to sit on, and wooden fences to prevent children from jumping out onto the roadway.
In this space, please spend a fun day while being healed by the smiles and happy voices of the children.

The “All Good Garden”, which will open on the first floor of the site of the former Sogo Main Building, will have a variety of furniture such as pergolas and sofas, so that it will be a place where many people can relax. The ground will be covered with artificial turf, the wall of the former Sogo Kashiwa store main building will be decorated with wall fixtures and art with green motifs, and the fence on the JR track side will be decorated with plants.
In addition to being able to enjoy meals purchased from nearby restaurants, food trucks are scheduled to open every weekend. In this space, you can read, take a rest, and enjoy meals with your family and friends.

On the stage of “KASHIWA GREEN PARK”, live music will be held three times each day from 13:30, 15:00, and 17:00 for 30 minutes each. Enjoy a variety of music genres, from children’s play songs to violinists and indie bands. In addition, from 13:00 to 18:00 each day, a workshop will be held by Nijino Picture Book Store. Parents and children can enjoy workshops such as small picture book workshops and balloon art workshops.

・Live music + Christmas market + live painting
On the “KASHIWA GREEN PARK” stage, live music will be held three times each day from 13:30, 15:00, and 17:00 for 30 minutes each. In addition to live performances by artists, participatory live events such as “KIDS DISCO” and “KIDS Drum Circle” will be held. In addition, from 11:00 to 18:00 each day, a “Christmas market” will be held in the space in front of the stage, where shops that handle Christmas miscellaneous goods will gather.
A part of the “All Good Garden” under construction will be open to the public, and an art live painting will be held where you can observe the process of artists painting art on the walls. The artists are Mr. Frankie Siich and Mr. Yumi Yamada.

・Live music + Christmas market + SNOW MAGIC SHOW + live painting + kids event On the “KASHIWA GREEN PARK” stage, live music will be held three times each day from 13:30, 15:00, and 17:00 for 30 minutes each. Continuing from the previous week, participatory live events such as “KIDS DISCO” and “KIDS Drum Circle” will be held, and sand art artist Karin Ito, who is attracting attention in overseas media, will appear. In addition, from 13:00 to 18:00 each day, the SNOW MAGIC SHOW will be held regularly to create a Christmas-like atmosphere.
In “Kids Playground”, artist Mayumi Kono will perform a live painting on the stage of the shutter of the former Sogo Kashiwa store, and the Kids Playground will be completed in front of you. In addition, a test drive / experience event of STRIDER, which is loved by over 3 million children in 25 countries around the world, will be held from 11:00 to 18:00.
