“This New Year, I don’t know about traffic jams Katsuo-ji New Year’s visit shuttle bus” operation!
A demonstration experiment that will be held during the New Year 2023 with the aim of “relieving traffic congestion”, “environmental contribution” and “economic revitalization” in collaboration with “tourist facilities x commercial facilities x travel agencies”. Between Senri Chuo Station (in front of Senri Hankyu Hotel) and Katsuoji (via Mino Q’s Mall on the return trip)
“Katsuo-ji Temple,” which has been worshiped as a “temple of good luck” for 1,300 years, and “Senri Hankyu Hotel” in front of Senri Chuo Station. Operated by Hankyu Travel International Co., Ltd. The return trip goes via Mino Q’s Mall.
Until now, private cars were the only means of transportation for visiting Katsuo-ji Temple during the New Year, and traffic jams could take up to four hours. Therefore, we focused on “Senri Chuo Station”, which is an Osaka Monorail station and is on the extension line from Kita-Osaka Kyuko Railway (Osaka Metro). In order to make Hatsumode possible for those who do not have a private car, and to be
environmentally friendly, there is a shuttle bus every hour from Senri Chuo Station (in front of Senri Hankyu Hotel) from 7:00 to 16:00 (may be extended depending on the day). operate. It will arrive in about 43 minutes.
Based on the use of fixed-route bus stops made possible by the revised Road Traffic Law promulgated in June 2020, Minoh City Hall and private businesses will collaborate to carry out tasks such as applying to relevant government agencies. This is a measure to “relieve traffic congestion” on the Minoh Driveway, which takes up to four hours to reach Katsuo-ji Temple. This is a demonstration experiment to contribute to the development of the local economy, which leads to “revitalization”.
As a result of operating the shuttle bus during the fall foliage season as the first step in the fall of 2022, it was greatly effective in alleviating traffic congestion on the Minoh Driveway, so we believe that we can expect a great effect this time as well.

[Points of this project]
Katsuo-ji Temple can experience traffic jams of up to 4 hours each year during the fall foliage and New Year holidays. The origin of this project is to contribute to the environment by reducing the idling time associated with the relief of traffic congestion and preventing deforestation in Minoh Quasi-National Park by increasing the parking lot. Due to the enforcement of some provisions of the revised Road Traffic Law promulgated in June 2020, if there is an agreement among the parties concerned that it is useful for securing passenger transportation necessary for the lives of local residents, it will be a fixed-route bus. The bus stop car to the bus stop of is now possible.
Therefore, Minoh City, the commercial facility “Mino Q’s Mall”, the sightseeing spot “Katsuoji”, and the operator “Hankyu Travel International” cooperated. As a result of operating the shuttle bus during the fall foliage season as the first step in the fall of 2022, it was highly effective in alleviating traffic congestion on the Minoh Driveway. ”, “Creating examples of tourist facilities and commercial facilities working on park and bus rides”, and furthermore,
implementation was decided as “experimental measures for economic revitalization at the 2025 Osaka/Kansai Expo”.
■ About Katsuoji Temple
Katsuo-ji Temple dates back to the late Nara period, and according to Koryu-ki, it was founded in the 4th year of the Kamikaze era (727) when the twin brothers Zennaka and Zensan set up a thatched hut and trained there. The 6th head of the temple, Gyokjun Shonin, prayed for Emperor Seiwa’s repose of his body and was effective. However, at the main temple, the “King” is replaced by the “tail”, and it is called Katsuo-ji Temple, and has been worshiped as a temple of good luck. Later, the character for king was added to the tail, and since then it has been called ‘Katsuo-ji’.
Since then, it is said that the Genji, Ashikaga, and Toyotomi clan prayed for victory, and the belief in victory spread. Even today, many worshipers visit the shrine to pray for “winning luck” in all kinds of situations, such as exams, business, employment, and sports. Details about this release:
