From December 3rd (Sat) to 17th (Sat), 2022, “Under Current Satellite Exhibition” will be held at N&A Art SITE (Meguro-ku, Tokyo). This exhibition is a project to introduce in Japan as a digest of the exhibition “Under Current” by 16 Japanese artists currently being held at the Powerlong Museum in Shanghai. It will be an opportunity for you to enjoy the “Under Current” exhibition while in Japan by exhibiting one work by each artist participating in the exhibition in Shanghai. [Image 1

The Powerlong Museum, which is said to be one of the largest private museums in Asia, is a museum that attracts the most attention in Shanghai, which has been developing as the center of the Asian art scene in recent years. It is a very challenging and epoch-making attempt to hold an exhibition exclusively for up-and-coming Japanese artists at a museum in China, where it is said to be difficult for Japanese artists to expand globally.

The “Under Current” exhibition, which began in Shanghai on November 11th (Friday), was curated by Miwa Kutsuna. Centering on KOTARO NUKAGA Gallery, ANOMALY, Gallery Koyanagi, Tomio Koyama Gallery, MAHO KUBOTA GALLERY, and Mizuma Art Gallery. Japan’s famous six galleries cooperated in holding the event. About 100 works by 16 Japanese artists are on display. However, it is difficult for Japanese people, including the participating artists, to see the works locally, especially in Shanghai, where the corona measures are strict. Therefore, N&A Art SITE will hold a satellite exhibition linked to the Shanghai exhibition as a place to connect Shanghai and Japan, which have been separated by the corona pandemic.
