A photo exhibition of photo essays by British photographer Dennis Morris that records the growth of the “Stone Roses”, the core of “Madchester” in the late 80’s, will be held at “BOOKMARC”!
At the bookstore “BOOKMARC” by the New York-based fashion brand “Marc Jacobs”, “Stone Roses”, the central figure of the Manchester Movement/Madchester in the late 80’s, by British photographer Dennis Morris. We will hold a photo exhibition of 200-page photo essays that document the growth of An opening reception with a DJ and an autograph session with Mr. Dennis will also be held on the first night. Dennis Morris, a British artist who has created a thorough body of work that approaches extraordinary geniuses through a lens. Closely connected to the music scene, Morris has created iconic and striking photographic works such as Bob Marley, the Sex Pistols and Marianne Faithfull’s “Broken English” album cover. He also documented life in the Sikh community of Southall, England. The collection was
subsequently purchased by English Heritage. He is also known for creating the sleeve cases for the first two albums, including the iconic logo for Public Image Limited and the band’s “Metal Box”. His work has been published as a photo book “Bob Marley”, Sex Pistols “A Rebel Life; His photographic works have been exhibited at Today Art Museum (Beijing), Laforet Museum (Tokyo), Arles International Photo Festival (Arles), Photographers Gallery (London), Institute of Contemporary Art (London), Tate Britain (London), Metropolitan Museum of Art. (NY), Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (Cleveland) and
internationally. His photographs are held by the Tate Britain, the Victoria & Albert Museum (London), etc., and are published in magazines such as Rolling Stone, Time, GQ, Vogue, W, and Frieze. In books, “Lipstick Traces: A Secret History of the Twentieth Century” by Greil Marcus (Japanese untranslated), “Century” by Bruce Bernard (Japanese untranslated), Vivienne Westwood “100 Days of Active Resistance” (Japanese untranslated) etc. was used.
