The award ceremony will be held online on Sunday, December 18, 2022
The Musashino University Japanese Literature Society (Nishitokyo City, Tokyo) will present novels and haiku works for the 30th Musashino Literature Award (high school student category) in July 2022 with the aim of promoting the creative activities of high school students and students preparing for entrance exams and discovering young talent. Applications were accepted from Friday, August 1 to Wednesday, August 31. As a result of the examination by the selection committee, the winning works of each award were decided from among the submitted works of 45 novels and 127 haikus (117 works in the single haiku category and 10 works in the multiple haiku category).
The award ceremony for the winners by the judges will be held online on Sunday, December 18, 2022. In addition, the award-winning works and evaluations will be published on the university website from late December.

[Points of this case]
It has been held every year since 2012 with the aim of promoting the creative activities of high school students and prospective students and discovering talent, and this year marks the 11th time.
The selection committee consists of Akutagawa Prize-winning author Masahiro Mita, as well as many award-winning haiku poets and university professors.
A total of 172 haiku and novels were submitted, and 2 novels and 13 haiku were selected as award-winning works.

The Musashino Literature Award was established in 1993 to raise interest in creative works among all students, graduate students, and alumni enrolled at the university, and to encourage the birth of outstanding works.This year marks the 30th anniversary of the award. . The high school student division (including students taking entrance exams) was established in 2012, and this time, the 11th time, there were 45 novels and 127 haiku works (117 works in the one-verse section and 10 works in the multiple-verse section). Two novels and 13 haiku were selected. The prizes to be awarded are as follows.

In 1924, Musashino Women’s Academy was established with the ideal of character education based on the spirit of Buddhism. It used to be Musashino Women’s University and changed its name to Musashino University in 2003. Since becoming co-educational in 2004, the university has been reformed and developed into a comprehensive university with over 13,000 students, including 12 faculties and 20 departments, 13 graduate schools, and a correspondence course. In 2019, it opened the first data science department at a private university in Japan. In 2021, we will open the first Entrepreneurship Faculty in Japan, and start the university-wide common basic course “Musashino INITIAL” with “AI utilization” and “SDGs” as compulsory subjects. In 2023, we will open the first Sustainability Department in Japan. In order to develop creative human resources for the 100th anniversary of its founding in 2024 and the future in 2050, we are promoting university reforms.
