My Voicecom Co., Ltd. (Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, President: Kazuhisa Takai) conducted the second Internet survey on “alternative meat” from December 1 to 5, 2022. We will inform you of the results of the investigation.

Reasons and triggers for eating alternative meat
Reasons for people who ate meat substitutes in the last year (multiple answers): 35.8% said, “I tried it to see what it tastes like,” 31.7% said, “For health reasons,” and “High protein and low calorie.” ”, ”It has the same texture and flavor as meat, and is healthy”, and ”It was on the menu of a restaurant that was sold at a store” was around 20%. Less than 30% of those who intend to use meat substitutes “want to eat” or “somewhat want to eat”. Women in their teens and twenties are 40% stronger. Less than 60% of those who have eaten it in the last year, and less than 20% of those who have never used it. About 35% of non-users (total of those who “do not want to eat” and “do not want to eat very much”).
Points to consider when purchasing alternative meat
The points that people who intend to use alternative meat emphasize when purchasing (multiple answers) are: 77.4% for “taste”, 50-60% for “price” and “ingredients”, “additives”, “domestic production” and “texture”. are in the 30% range.
“Additives”, “Lack of odor” and “Ease of cooking” were higher among females, “Ingredients” and “Whether domestic or not” were higher among older females, and “Shape” was higher among females in their 40s to 60s.
Attractiveness of alternative meat
39.9% of respondents said that meat alternatives are attractive (multiple answers allowed). Around 20% answered that it gives you the satisfaction of eating meat.
Those who answered that they would like to eat meat substitutes answered that they were “healthy” and “rich in dietary fiber”, followed by “healthy but satisfying as if eating meat” and “fat “can suppress the absorption of” has risen to the top.
