◆Overview
Okayama Prefecture is Japan’s largest producer of high-end fruits such as white peaches and muscat grapes. However, there are issues such as the aging of farmers, shrinking markets, and lack of successors.
In order to address this issue, the National University Corporation Okayama University (Headquarters: Kita Ward, Okayama City; President: Hiroshi Makino) is working with Okayama Prefecture and other local governments, companies in the prefecture, agricultural organizations, and other collaborating organizations to promote diversity
agriculture. on October 25, 2022, in the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology and the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST)’s “Co-creation Place Support Program (COI-NEXT) Adopted.
A kick-off symposium in response to this adoption will be held on December 22, 2022 (Thursday) in a hybrid format, titled “Kick-off symposium for regional innovation co-creation bases through diversity agriculture-Aiming to realize a diverse and vibrant local community.” We will introduce the vision that Te~ aims to achieve and the efforts to achieve it.
Based on the efforts of peach producers who are developing advanced agricultural management and the efforts of the Okayama prefectural government that has supported them, the panel discussion was held by participating secretary companies and local JAs, using new methods. Farmers involved in vegetable production and students from Okayama University who participate in the activities of this co-creation base will join together to collect issues and collective wisdom, and think together with everyone about the future activities of this co-creation base.
“We look forward to your participation.”

[Organizer]
Regional innovation co-creation base through diversity agriculture 〇 What is diversity agriculture?
It is a custom-made type of agriculture that allows various new farmers with various circumstances and needs to overcome the challenges they face in farming and to farm in a variety of ways. At this base, we use digital transformation (DX) to smoothly inherit “tacit knowledge” and improve the skills of workers through technical support, and furthermore, we can engage in agriculture with physical and mental peace of mind and satisfaction. We will work on safety and health management to increase the agricultural population and achieve well-being. In addition, we will consider various “profitable” agricultural management models, strengthen the management base of farmers, and aim to realize a strong, diverse, and vibrant local community.
