[Survey report] What is the national qualification that children admire? “Doctor” came in first place!
The information media “Electrical Qualification Laboratory JABO” (https://sublogg.com/electric/) operated by Review Co., Ltd. (https://jafmate.co.jp/) is a useful information media for teens and older all over Japan. We conducted a questionnaire survey on “National qualifications that children admire” for those who are.

Summary of survey results
When we surveyed the national qualifications that children aspire to by questionnaire, the first place was “doctor”.
Others will be introduced in the ranking format.

“Doctor” came in first place.
“Veterinarian” and “Nurse” followed after 2nd place, and “Pharmacist” came in 8th place.
1st place: doctor
・I think it’s a dream job because I often play doctor. Because it’s a job that helps people, children will admire it. (Male, 30s)
・In this case, I think I am a doctor. Because it is easy to understand as a profession and I feel that the social status is high. Lawyers have the same status, but doctors are more admired because they are featured in dramas and comics. (Male in his 40s)
・In addition to high income and social status, I think that children genuinely admire the job content of curing illnesses and saving people in need and being thanked by people. The adults around them also look at doctors with respect, and I think that sensitive children sense this and respect themselves. (Female in her 40s)

It seems that there are many children who yearn to be cool doctors in TV dramas. 2nd place: Veterinarian
・Because I have a dog now and I am indebted to an animal hospital, I have a lot of respect for veterinarians. I think it’s a tough job every day. (Female in her 40s)

・It’s not a popular job, but if I were to choose one among them, it would be because children like animals, and many of them would like to have a job where they can interact with animals. (Female in her 30s) The second place was “Veterinarian”.
There was an opinion that veterinarians who treat cute animals are admired and respected.
3rd place: Nurse
・My 9-year-old daughter has been showing interest for a long time, probably because hospitals are often featured on TV in this day and age. Since my younger son was hospitalized the other day, I seem to yearn for it more and more. (Female in her 30s)
It’s a great job because it saves lives. Whether I go to the hospital or be hospitalized, they are the people I come in contact with the most, so I thought I would admire children. (Female in her 40s) ・Because I think that I admire an adult woman who encourages me with a gentle voice when I get hurt or have a fever. I think the white uniform is cute too. (Female in her 30s)
4th place: National civil servant
・I think that it is one of the stable jobs for a long time. Welfare is solid, so there is a sense of security. I think it’s popular with children because they have a pretty realistic way of thinking. (Female in her 40s)
・Because police officers and firefighters are the closest to being educated from an early age and have a good impression, they are remembered as heroes of admiration and justice for children. (Male, 30s)
・In view of the current situation in Japan, I thought it was the most stable. I think that national civil servants are stable as long as the country does not disappear. (Female in her 20s)
4th place: Beautician
・My child has a longing for a hairdresser because the person who cuts his hair at the beauty salon gives him a very cool and fashionable hairstyle. (Male, 30s)
・Even if you are a child, if you go to a beauty salon, you will have the opportunity to interact with them on a daily basis, and if you look gorgeous and be kind, you will feel a sense of admiration. (Male, 30s)

4th place: nursery teacher
・One of the first adults a child comes into contact with outside of the family is a nursery teacher. It is a profession that I admire as I grow up while being scolded and praised by nursery teachers. (Female in her 30s)
・There were many children who wanted to become nursery school teachers during their childhood. I think it was also in the future dream ranking of my child. (Female in her 30s)
・Since my child goes to a nursery school, I think that a nursery teacher is the person I have the most opportunities to interact with, so I think it’s the easiest person to admire. (Female in her 30s) 7th place: registered dietitian
・I learned about nutrition in my home economics class, and there are teachers who think of delicious school lunches. I think it’s a national qualification that I feel. (Female in her 40s)
・I thought it was recommended because it can be used in any industry, and not only companies, but also local government employees can work if they have a registered dietitian qualification. (Female in her 30s) 8th place: Pharmacist
・My child wants to become a pharmacist, and I think it will be difficult to become a pharmacist. because you think it’s useful. (Female in her 40s)

summary
When we conducted a questionnaire to 100 people, 48.0% of them answered that they were “doctors”.
In addition, as reasons for responding, there were many opinions such as that it was a job with a high social status, and that it was because TV dramas had made it an admired person.
Great for children! Occupations that feel like they tend to be popular. Why not use it as a reference when you have the opportunity to talk about your dreams with your child?
