[Survey Report] Where to Renovate Your Home? The first place was “kitchen”!
The information media “Sublog” (https://sublogg.com/) operated by Review Co., Ltd. (https://jafmate.co.jp/) is aimed at people in their 20s and older all over Japan. We conducted a questionnaire survey on “where to renovate your house”.

Summary of survey results
When we surveyed where to renovate the house, the number one was the “kitchen”. Others will be introduced in the ranking format.

After 2nd place, “bath” and “toilet” followed, and “bedroom” came in 8th place. 1st place: Kitchen
・I want to update efficiency and functionality because I work a lot every day.I want to remodel the kitchen into a face-to-face kitchen. (Male, 30s)
The kitchen is old and small. Everything is small, so I want to make it bigger. I want a dishwasher. (Female in her 40s)
・Since I have more time at home, cooking and making sweets have become my hobbies. (Female in her 20s)
First place is the kitchen.
There were also opinions that since it is a place where you cook every day, it deteriorates quickly, and that you want to incorporate the latest equipment in an old place.
2nd place: bath
・The mirror in the bath tends to fog up with water, so I want to change it to a material that doesn’t fog up easily. In addition, it is easy for mold to grow in the drain, so it is easy to get dirty. (Female in her 30s)
・Because it is simply small and dirty. I’m thinking about remodeling because it’s a part I don’t want others to see. I am concerned about dirt. (Male, 20s)
・Since everyone in the family likes baths because they use them every day, I wanted to renovate them first to enjoy a relaxing time. (Female in her 30s)
The second place was “bath”.
There are many reasons why people want to renovate comfortably because the area around the water is easy to get dirty and is used every day by the family.
3rd place: toilet
・Since the floor and walls of the toilet are tiled as they were in the past, it is difficult to clean and I would like to replace it with a cloth. The ceiling is also cracked and I would like to fix it. I would like to add more outlets. (Female in her 40s)
・Some of the storage shelves are broken, so I would like to renovate them and make them more functional. (Female in her 30s)
・I admire tankless, spacious, water-saving toilets, and they are full of functionality, such as ones that don’t require cleaning. (Female in her 40s)
4th place: living room
・While awake, I would like to change the environment to a better one because it is the space where the family spends the most time together. I want to renovate to a comfortable living room. (Female in her 30s)
・Because the living room is where you spend most of your waking hours at home. Even if a visitor comes, I almost never let them through other than the living room. (Female in her 30s)
・If you renovate your house, it will be the living room. This is because the living room is where we spend most of our time. (Male, 30s)
5th place: Entrance
・Because there are many things such as children’s toys outside the entrance now, I want to make the entrance storage a little wider so that I can put my luggage. (Male, 30s)
・Since it is an old house, there are quite a few steps, so I think that I have to think about my age. (Female in her 40s)
・I would like to make the entrance wider than I thought because it is narrower than I thought and it is difficult to be with children when there is no time in the morning because it will be crowded. (Female in her 30s)
5th place: Washroom/dressing room
・Since the washbasin is narrow and the space for placing things is limited, we would like to make it a little wider. Also, the space to put the laundry is small. (Female in her 20s)
・The dressing room is cold and there is a temperature difference with the living room, so we use heaters and stoves, but the space is small and it is dangerous. (Female in her 30s)
・It’s been a while, but the entrance, kitchen, and bathroom are being renovated. The washroom and dressing room are a little narrow, and there is an unused room next door, so I would like to make it a little wider (female, 20s).
7th place: Children’s room
・Since the house has only one room for the child’s room, I think that I should renovate it and divide it into two to create a personal space. (Female in her 20s)
・I made a child’s room, but when the child grows up and leaves the house, the child’s room is no longer needed, and it becomes a useless room. (Male in his 40s)
・I want to change to a Western-style room because it is a
Japanese-style room. Because I want to stop the fusuma and connect it with the living room. I want to use a soft floor material that won’t hurt even if I fall (female, 30s)
8th: Bedroom
・Currently, there is only the minimum space for a bed, so when my child gets older, I want to make it a little larger and use it as a hobby room (female, 30s).
・Originally, the bedroom has two doors so that it can be divided into two rooms. My husband is currently using the bedroom for home work, so I would like to renovate it to make it a bedroom and a work room. (Female in her 30s)
8th place was the result of “bedroom”.
There was an opinion that I would like to renovate the bedroom when the child grows up.

In a survey of 100 people, 31.0% of the respondents answered “kitchen”. In addition, as reasons for responding, there were many opinions such as wanting to change to something that is easy to use and that it is easy to get dirty in places that are used every day.
