MTG Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Nagoya City, Aichi Prefecture, President: Tsuyoshi Matsushita) develops a training brand centered on EMS, “SIXPAD (Six Pad)” for runners to run faster “SIXPAD RUNNING METHOD (hereinafter referred to as Method)” was jointly developed with Mr. Takehiro Sonohara, a master instructor of the Japan Running
Association. To commemorate the development, the “SIXPAD RUNNING METHOD Media Presentation” was held on December 14, 2022 (Wednesday) at Shin-Toyosu Brillia Running Stadium.
On the day of the event, Mr. Sonohara and Mr. Toshihiko Seko (Japan Running Association cheerleader) were invited to discuss the background to the joint development of SIXPAD and the Japan Running Association, the jointly developed method, the impact of the method on the running world, and the New Year’s event. He talked about why Meiji University, which is aiming to acquire seed rights for the first time in three years in the student ekiden, decided to introduce the method and the response.
What is SIXPAD RUNNING METHOD?
“SIXPAD RUNNING METHOD” is a running method jointly developed by SIXPAD and the Japan Running Association for athlete runners. This method has been developed based on “hybrid running” where you run while wearing the “SIXPAD Powersuit Core Belt” equipped with SIXPAD’s unique EMS. Only), you can train your core efficiently by running while stimulating at the same time.
For runners, training their core is necessary to maintain correct form for a long time, and training their core allows them to run with a sense of stability without swaying from side to side. In recent years, in order to make the most of the characteristics of thick-soled shoes, which have become mainstream in the track and field world, it is necessary to have a body that is elastic like a spring, and for that reason, the trunk and muscles are necessary. The most important thing in core training is to “continue”, so we have developed a simple and efficient method that is easy to incorporate every day.
Method introduction HP:
Athletics legend Mr. Seko talks about his expectations for the method! “The key to the future of the Hakone Ekiden is the 2nd ward. Physical training is just as important as running practice.”
At the presentation, Mr. Toshihiko Seko, who served as the Japan Running Association cheerleader, marathon strengthening and strategy project leader of the Japan Association of Athletics Federations Strengthening Committee, and former marathon representative of Japan, also took the stage. On the current issues facing the track and field world, “We are now in an era where thick-soled shoes are the norm for shortening times, so strengthening the core is a major issue for runners in order to take advantage of the ground reaction force that is a feature of thick-soled shoes.” and commented. He also touched on the introduction of the method at Meiji University, saying, “In the Hakone Ekiden, players tend to lose their form in an attempt to make up for the delay in the first section, and the rankings fluctuate greatly in the second section, where the pace varies among athletes. For that reason, I believe that the physical difference is the key to running at a stable pace.In other words, physical training is as important as running practice. In that sense, Meiji University, which emphasizes core strength, is training. It’s worth paying attention to,” he said about his own vision for the New Year’s Student Ekiden. SIXPAD Kumazaki “I am proud that the method has become easy for all runners to continue.”
At the presentation, President Matsushita explained why the method was jointly developed with the Japan Running Association, saying, “Runners have unique challenges in modern times, and SIXPAD can provide solutions to those challenges with its unique characteristics. This is the SIXPAD running method we are announcing today. It will enable runners to efficiently train their core, which is important for runners, so that they can run faster and longer.”
In addition, SIXPAD brand manager Kumazaki gave a presentation on the details of the method. “I am proud that it has become a wonderful method that is easy to continue for not only athletes but also all runners who enjoy running on a daily basis,” he said, expressing confidence in the method. Regarding the merits for general runners, he said, “In order to increase the muscle mass of the trunk, it is necessary to continue training for at least XX months. With this method, anyone can easily continue training in the midst of
difficulty,” he explained about the benefits for general runners. Regarding the outlook for the running industry in the future, he said, “With the spread of this method, many runners will be able to easily train their core, and I expect that records that have not been achieved before will emerge. I’m doing it,” and talked about his expectations for the future.
Long-established ekiden and Meiji University are also introduced! Director Yamamoto and captain looking ahead to the New Year’s student ekiden “I was able to maintain the correct form in the second half” On the day of the event, Mr. Takehiro Sonohara, the master instructor of the Japan Running Association who developed the method, took the podium and presented the background to the method development. Regarding the reason why the Meiji University Athletic Club, which is said to be the “veteran of the ekiden world,” introduced the method, Ekiden Club Manager Yamamoto said, “The penetration of thick-soled shoes has changed the places where athletes get injured. I felt that I needed special training. It is important to see a trainer, but I thought that a method that allows you to train your core while running would make it easier for you to be aware of your core and correct form.” said.
In an interview with Captain Ozawa, “In order to become one step stronger, I think that if I don’t “strengthen” my trunk and muscle strength, I won’t be able to compete in the game. I feel that the method is a very efficient training for us students because it allows us to train our core and practice even when we don’t have much time. I’m doing my best to keep my back strong in the second half and build a body that doesn’t get injured.”
