[Message from the owner]
As a person born in the year of the tiger, I am very honored to receive such an honorable award at this timing.
I have experienced career switching several times so far, but even if the industry and business type are different, there are actually many things in common, such as evaluation methods and budget planning processes. Also, when I think back on the actions of my predecessors who have achieved success in global companies, I want to take on challenges above all else! I think it is important to have a positive attitude. Also, while setting big goals, I think it is also important to clarify the definition of success in the current role and steadily overcome each one while aiming for early realization. I would like to work together with everyone on the empowerment of women in Japan. Thank you for this time.

Ms. Makiko Eda, Representative of Japan, World Economic Forum
[Image 4

【Reason for selection】
Mr. Eda is currently working to solve global issues as Japan’s representative at the World Economic Forum.
Prior to that, he was president of Intel Corporation for five years. Prior to becoming president, he was responsible for the planning and implementation of all marketing strategies for Intel’s Asia Pacific region. The World Economic Forum is a well-known organization known for hosting the Davos Conference, but it is creating a forum for multilateral cooperation to achieve better economic growth. In addition, as a representative of Japan, I am working to increase the presence of Japan in the development of the world economy.
Utilizing the leadership I have cultivated through my top management experience at a company, I am working on a wider range of issues through public-private partnerships, which is different from the mission of a single company. For example, as the global economy becomes more interconnected, such as the issue of fragmentation, reskilling, ESG, and the use of good technology, we are facing issues that are constantly changing in scope. In this way, Mr. Eda has always taken on new challenges without resting on his laurels. She has become a role model for Japanese women, opening up new worlds with the joy of continuing to learn and having a major impact on the global economy. [Image 5

[Message from the person]
Throughout my career, I feel like I’ve been chasing after interesting things and learning new things. To be honest, I’m not sure if I should be called a role model.
The World Economic Forum is an organization that aims to solve global issues by bringing together leaders in various fields such as business, politics, economics, and academia to tackle global and regional economic issues. There is still room for growth in such collaborations that go beyond a single company, and they will also lead to an increase in Japan’s presence in the world, so we intend to work even more actively.
I hope that I will continue to learn and see new worlds. At the same time, I have been supported by wonderful people, so I would like to support the women around me in the same way and make Japan a place where women can truly shine.

I am truly honored to have been selected as an award winner. I have had many opportunities to receive awards in sports such as the Paralympics and the World Cup, but I am very grateful that my business career was also recognized, and it will be a great source of encouragement for me in the future. This honor is not due to my efforts alone, but also thanks to the guidance of my seniors and superiors, and to all my colleagues who have supported me in both sports and business.
When I was a student, I happened to come across an alpine ski competition, and through the experience of competing with rivals from around the world, I learned that by changing the angle of things, you can think and perceive things in a completely different way. Even medals of the same color can have completely different meanings, and even skills that could not be acquired by repeated practice can be acquired simply by changing the approach. If you think about how other people see you when you face a wall or difficulty, you may be able to find a breakthrough and make a choice that you believe you should move forward.
I would like to continue to walk my own path while cherishing the joy of learning new things in a world I do not know, the excitement, the excitement, and the sense of euphoria.

Message from Rikako Onishi, Chairman of the TIGER WOMAN OF THE YEAR Executive Committee
[Image 14
Cotra Co., Ltd., which I founded 20 years ago, is a company that provides recruitment and human capital consulting. Through my daily activities, I feel that “diversity” is extremely important for the development of a company organization.
One of the diversity is gender. I understand that the women who are active today are doing so not because they are women, but as a result of their continuous efforts to contribute to society and
organizations. However, the high level of general management and communication skills that many women have is an important factor for organizations and companies, and such leaders are desperately needed. On the other hand, the reality is that there is still a shortage of female leaders.
Rather than blaming the environment or culture, I want women to step forward and have the courage to take the lead themselves. With this in mind, we decided to hold this award. The awardees are active in various fields, including the business world. We hope that these people will serve as role models for many women to take a step forward.
