Ultra Suede (R) is a suede-like artificial leather developed by Toray. It is a material that is used in various fields such as fashion, interiors, and automobile interiors due to its soft and high-quality feel, various color variations, high durability, and high degree of freedom in processing.
At this event, you can experience making an Ultrasuede (R) pochette. Choose your favorite colors and parts, cut and paste with the tools provided, and experiment with various processing methods to create your one and only original pochette in the world. There is also an explanation of materials from Toray Industries, Inc., so you can experience manufacturing while learning about materials. The Tama Art Museum staff will teach you how to make it and give you some tips, so let’s enjoy making it together!

This special exhibition is a report on the results of the material exploration workshop using “Ultrasuede (R)” held at the university’s material laboratory “CMTEL” from May to June 2022. Volunteers from the Department of Design will exhibit works that have been “cooked” with free ideas that are unique to art students and are not bound by preconceived notions.

At the workshop, cutting, pasting, and heating Ultrasuede(R), while enjoying the changes in the material, an experimental effort was made to draw out its appeal, an attempt to focus on the process of creation. rice field. About CMTEL (Simtel: Color/Materials/Trends/Exploration Laboratory) CMTEL is the material laboratory of Tama Art University.
