The Nankai Group will continue after December 12, 2022 (Monday) regarding “transportation using Visa touch payment” and “sale of digital tickets using QR codes”
We will strengthen the acceptance system by introducing Japan’s first integrated automatic ticket gates on the Semboku Rapid Railway, and create an environment that can be used conveniently by many customers, including inbound passengers.

(President: Masayuki Takada), Visa World Wide Japan Co., Ltd. (President and CEO: Steven Carpin) is pleased to announce the launch of “Visa touch payment for transportation” (hereafter, “Visa touch payment”) and “Sale of digital tickets using QR codes” (hereafter, “Digital ticket”) has been conducted for about 1 year and 9 months.
As a result, we were able to confirm that the Nankai Group is at a level where we can provide services to customers based on the results and knowledge obtained from this verification. I decided to continue the service after that date.

As the Nankai Group, which is responsible for access from Kansai International Airport, we will gradually expand the area in
preparation for the 2025 Osaka Kansai Expo in order to strengthen our system for accepting inbound tourists, which is expected to increase in the future.
In addition, the Nankai Group will take on the challenge of
unprecedented new services by strengthening cooperation. Please continue to use Visa’s touch payment and digital ticket as before. Details are below.
Overview
From April 3, 2021 on Nankai Electric Railway
1. Verification of the operation of the fare payment system at ticket gates using Visa touch payment compatible cards (credit, debit, prepaid) and smartphones, etc.
2. Providing flexible services such as fare discount campaigns that take advantage of cloud services
For a long period of time, we have confirmed the convenience of users. In addition, Visa’s touch payment initiative will be expanded to group companies, and from October 2020, section fares on Nankai Rinkan Bus will be collected. ”, and since April of the same year, we have realized transit fares between railway operators with Nankai Electric Railway and Semboku Rapid Railway, which has mutual access.
The use of Visa touch payment cards (credit, debit, prepaid) for transportation is expanding overseas. We believe that it will contribute to the smooth movement of inbound passengers, such as eliminating the need to purchase tickets in Japanese yen. Furthermore, we will continue to provide the service and gradually expand the service area based on the merits as a business operator, such as alleviating congestion at ticket sales counters, as well as the results and knowledge obtained from customers in Japan.
In anticipation of an increase in the number of inbound tourists accompanying the easing of the number of people entering Japan from October 2022, and the 2025 Osaka/Kansai Expo, we will take on the challenge of new initiatives that can only be realized with “Visa touch payment” and “digital ticket”. As the Nankai Group, which is responsible for access from international airports, we will continue to provide convenient and comfortable services for many customers, including inbound passengers.

In December 2022, Japan’s first all-in-one ticket gate that supports three types of tickets: cards with a Visa touch payment function (credit, debit, prepaid), QR tickets (digital tickets), and
transportation IC cards. By introducing , we will create an
environment that is easier for customers to use.

2. Bus (Nankai Rinkan Bus)
By setting an upper limit on the amount of Visa touch payment receipts and making it the same amount as the 1-day unlimited ticket currently on sale in paper form (only for adults), it will save time and effort to purchase tickets at the sales counter. We will improve the convenience of customers, including inbound passengers visiting the World Heritage Site “Koyasan”. The service start date will be announced separately.

By promoting the use of “smart likes”, we will strengthen our efforts to go cashless.

4. Expansion to other credit card brands (planned)
Currently, only Visa cards with touch payment function (credit, debit, prepaid) can be used, but we plan to support other international card brands in the future. Details will be announced as soon as they are decided.
Special tickets using QR codes (digital tickets)
Nankai Electric Railway has released 6 products in a demonstration experiment of plan tickets using QR codes (some products can also be used on the Senboku Rapid Railway). As a result, many customers were able to experience the convenience of being able to purchase tickets anytime, anywhere without having to visit the station window. In addition, the “Rapi:t Digital Ticket”, which went on sale in August, has taken on the challenge of new initiatives, such as the sale of special tickets that combine passenger tickets and limited express tickets using a QR code for the first time in Japan. Furthermore, as a result of analyzing the usage situation, etc., it is an environment that makes it easy to consider targeted advertising and special tickets that customers can use more conveniently. We are currently considering specific future developments, but we will continue to provide special tickets using QR codes, such as
