Happy new year.
At the beginning of the new year, I would like to extend my heartfelt New Year’s greetings to all of you, and I sincerely hope that this year will be a wonderful one for all of you.
2022 will be a year of hope, recovery and demand acceleration for Japan, proving Japan’s resilience in the face of adversity after two years of COVID-19. Last year, Emirates celebrated its 20th anniversary as the first airline to connect Japan and the Middle East, and has served more than 6.8 million passengers on routes between Japan and Dubai, demonstrating its presence in Japan. It’s been a milestone year.
We are delighted that we were able to meet the growing demand for travel after Japan eased immigration restrictions while maintaining the safety of our operations and services. We are proud to be able to utilize the global network of Emirates Airlines to provide safe and secure air travel to all our customers, whether traveling, studying, or on business, and to support the travel industry.
Last year, we were able to bring back the Airbus A380 aircraft, which has been loved by customers around the world, to the Narita route, and to reopen the dedicated lounge at Narita Airport. This year, as your travel partner, Emirates will bring you even more unique experiences with its extensive network of over 150 destinations. Currently, we operate seven flights a week from Narita International Airport and Kansai International Airport, which are gateways to Japan, and we plan to resume flights to Haneda as soon as possible.
As the number of cities we serve expands, we believe it is important to secure excellent human resources. Emirates Airlines is committed to diversity by hiring talented personnel from more than 160 countries around the world, including pilots and cabin crew. We also employ Japanese-speaking cabin attendants so that Japanese customers can spend their time on board with peace of mind. Emirates has 340 Japanese employees working in various departments within the company. Our 20-year partnership with Japan is a huge achievement for our business. We will continue to work with local partners and the airline industry to contribute to the reconstruction of the industry and the development of the local economy and community. Even though we are facing uncertain times due to the global pandemic and various challenges, we will continue to contribute to the travel and aviation industries with hope and make every effort to restore them to their former glory.
As we enter 2023, we will continue to maintain our unwavering belief in providing better services in Japan, and thank you again for choosing us.
