Introduced a new charging billing system for light EVs in the energy change EV charging service
Allowing all EV drivers to use it at a reasonable price
ENECHANGE Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo CEO: Yohei Shiroguchi, COO: Ippei Arita) promotes the use of the EV charging service “EV charging energy change” that has expanded to 47
prefectures nationwide. We are pleased to announce that we have introduced a new function that can be used at a charge according to the charging output. The new function “Price according to charging output” system will be available from today, January 26, 2023 (Wednesday).
Since the start of the EV charging service business in November 2021, Enechange has been actively promoting the installation of 6.0kW normal chargers. By using a 6.0kW output charger, charging can be completed in about half the time of the 3.2kW output normal chargers that have been widely used in Japan. As the capacity of EV batteries continues to increase, EV drivers can efficiently secure charging during their limited stay.
In 2022, which was also called the “First Year of EV,” the annual sales of new BEV and PHEV combined reached a record high of 95,426 units*, and the EV market is expanding rapidly. In addition, the Nissan Sakura/Mitsubishi EK Cross ev was selected as the Japanese Car of the Year for 2022-2023, and the Hyundai IONIQ 5 was selected as the Import Car of the Year. It’s been a year. As the EV market becomes more active and diversified, some models with small battery capacity, such as light EVs and PHEVs, are only compatible with 3.2 kW charging output. has decided to introduce a new rate system to meet the needs of the times.
*From January to December 2022, based on the Japan Automobile Dealers Association’s “Sales Volume by Fuel (Passenger Vehicles)” and the Japan Light Motor Vehicle Association’s “New Vehicle Sales Report by Name” Cumulative sales volume
About the new function “Price according to charging output”
This system automatically determines the amount of power output and calculates the charge when charging a vehicle that does not support 6.0kW output, such as light EVs and PHEVs. Until now, the charge was calculated according to the charging time regardless of the amount of output, but with the introduction of the new function, it is suitable for all EV drivers, including vehicles that only support 3.2 kW charging output. We are now able to offer charging services at reasonable rates. As always, EV drivers and EV charger owners can enjoy the new features without any hassle.
