“Food Education for Adults” co-starring the world-famous Grand Chef of “Relais & Chateaux” will be held on February 14th and 15th at Hikariya Nishi (Matsumoto City)! ｜ Limited to 25 people Reservation acceptance start
In order to convey the food culture of the land to the future, we will deepen our thoughts on “food, agriculture, and tourism” and present a special course to “know the importance and joy of tasting” to modern adults.
For the first time in two years, “Food Education for Adults” will be held at Hikariya Nishi on February 14th and 15th! “Food education for adults” is a special course meal by two Grand Chefs of Otowa Restaurant (Utsunomiya City) and Hikari Yanishi (Matsumoto City) of the global hotel restaurant membership organization “Relais & Chateaux”. This is a project to deepen the understanding of “food” and to let people know the importance and joy of tasting it.
For dinner on February 14th, we have prepared a one-night special course (20,000 yen x 10 people), and for lunch on February 15th, we have prepared a keynote speech and lunch course (15,000 yen x 15 people). Please make a reservation as soon as possible.
Tobira Holdings Co., Ltd. (Fukashi, Matsumoto City, Nagano Prefecture, President: Tadamasa Saito) will hold the well-received “ Shokuiku for adults” will be held for the first time in two years. “Food education for adults” is to deepen the understanding of “food, agriculture, and tourism” for modern adults in order to pass on the food culture of the land to the future, and to know the importance and joy of tasting. This is the second time that we have invited Kazunori Otowa, the owner and chef of Otowa Restaurant (Utsunomiya City, Tochigi Prefecture), which is a member of Relais & Chateaux, a global hotel and restaurant membership organization. This project is created in collaboration with Masahiro Tanabe, head chef of the Tobira Group of Hikariya Nishi and Tobira Onsen Myojinkan (Iriyamabe, Matsumoto City, Nagano Prefecture), which are also members of Relais & Chateaux. We will prepare a limited special course meal.

Chef Kazunori Otowa

A pioneer of regional restaurants and a pioneer of French cuisine. After graduating from university, he traveled to Europe and trained at hotels and restaurants in Germany, Switzerland and France. He was the first Japanese to study under the late Alain Chapelle, who was called the “Da Vinci of the kitchen”, a heavyweight in the French culinary world. After returning to Japan, in 1981, he opened the restaurant “Auberge” in Utsunomiya. In addition to French restaurants, he also manages restaurants, bars and delicatessen shops. Other than that, we are working on the theme of “children’s food”, such as cooking classes for parents and children and teaching cooking at high schools, developing dishes using local products, and serving as a prefectural agricultural committee member for the local food environment. I am also active in Relais & Chateaux is the first Japanese facility to receive the Taittinger of Trophy 2019 award, which honors the best chefs in Relais & Chateaux, which has 60 countries around the world. Chef Masahiro Tanabe

He aspired to become a chef while familiarizing himself with the cooking of his grandmother, who lives in France. After graduating from Ecole Culinaire Kunitachi, studied under Kazunori Otowa at Auberge in Utsunomiya. Traveled to Europe and trained at famous restaurants in Lyon, Florence, Barcelona, London, etc. After returning to Japan, he worked as the head chef of Nasu Niki Club, and currently serves as head chef of Tobira Group, which operates Hikari Yanishi and Tobira Onsen Myojinkan. The youngest recipient of Nagano Prefecture Modern Master Craftsman. In addition, as a food education activity in the region, he goes to schools and gives lectures on French cuisine to future adults, which will serve as guideposts for their future lives. 2022 Served food on JR East’s cruise train “Transuite Shikishima” (similar to Chef Otowa), and in September 2022 supervised JAL first class in-flight meals as a “food master”.
