Ginza Tsutaya Bookstore (GINZA SIX6F, Chuo-ku, Tokyo) commemorates the release of “Meet the KEMONO: eye contact”, a collection of works by “kemono artist” Tatsuya Horimoto, from the early days to the latest works, on January 28 ( “Meet the KEMONO” exhibition will be held from Saturday, February 8th to Wednesday, February 8th.

In commemoration of the release of Tatsuya Horimoto’s work collection “Meet the KEMONO: eye contact” on February 6th (Monday), from January 28th (Sat) to February 8th. “Meet the KEMONO” exhibition will be held on (Wednesday).
“Kemono” written by Horimoto in katakana is an anthropomorphic expression that includes human emotions, senses, language, appearance, gestures, etc. in animals other than humans, or human emotions, senses, language, etc. It refers to a pseudo-animal expression that includes appearance, gestures, etc. Kemono are deeply related to human society, and we still see them in various scenes around the world, from religion and art to fairy tales, commerce, yearnings and desires. It can be said that beasts and humans are inseparable.
Horimoto, who has been interested in and admired animals since he was a child, creates works focusing on “human psychology toward animals”, including himself. In this exhibition, kemono that pose questions to the viewer, including his representative work “Aru Kemono”, are lined up. Meet the kemono at the venue and think about the meaning of their existence in this world.

Sales will start from 11:00 on Saturday, January 28th at Ginza Tsutaya Bookstore, and sales will start from 12:00 on Saturday, January 28th at the art online marketplace “OIL by Bijutsu Techo”.

About sales of special edition works with multiple
It will be on sale from 10:00 on January 27 (Friday) at the art online marketplace “OIL by Bijutsu Techo”.
Two types of multiple works will be produced for this exhibition. It is a work in which the artist directly colors each point of the solid output by the 3D printer. It will be sold in limited quantity as a set with the work collection.
Details of multiple works and sales methods will be released sequentially on the notice page. Also, please check the special site that will be released at a later date.

Kemono artist. Born in Mie Prefecture in 1993. In 2016, graduated from Kyoto University of Art and Design (currently Kyoto University of Arts), Department of Fine Arts and Crafts, Comprehensive Modeling Course. In 2018, completed the Sculpture Course at the Graduate School of Art and Design, Okinawa Prefectural University of Arts. Currently based in Mie prefecture.
