The season opener is a pro-am format tournament between the past two LPGA champions and celebrities from the sports and show business worlds. Professionals compete for the championship in 72 holes without qualifying cuts. The name of the tournament was changed from the newly established “Diamond Resorts Tournament of Champions” in 2019. This year’s event, which will be held for the fifth time, will be held on a course designed by master craftsman Tom Fazio located in Florida, USA, just like last season.
From Japan, Hataoka, Furue, and Saso, the largest number of players to date, participated. WOWOW, which broadcasts and broadcasts the tournament live every day, conducted a preliminary interview. ■ Nasa Hataoka

Q. The 2023 season is finally starting, how do you feel?
“I’m really looking forward to the seventh season.”
Q. How did you spend your little over a month off?
“I was pretty busy, but I think I was able to work on what I’m doing now, such as my swing, and I was able to do some training, so I think it was a fulfilling time.”
Q. You’ve become an ambassador for the race this week, and it’s your home course. How do you feel about it?
“With the support of Hilton Grand Vacations, there are many hotels around the world, and it is a really strong ally for people like us who tour in various places. So, I hope I can liven up the tournament even a little.”
Q. How are you feeling overall?
“The club is new, so there may still be some minor adjustments to be made, but the image has improved a lot.In addition, the greens are very fast this week, and the fairways around the greens are very tight. I hope I can be careful around here and there.”
Q. Is there anything you would like to improve from last year to this year? “During the off-season, I looked at various data such as stroke games from last year with my coach, and after all, I felt that short shots within 120 yards were a little inferior to the tour as a whole. , especially within 120 yards, I would like to extend the area around the green as much as possible.”
Q. What are your goals for this week and this year?
“This year, my goal is to win a major. This week is my home course, so I want to do my best to aim higher.”

Q. The 2023 season is finally starting, how do you feel?
“Last season seemed to fly by so quickly, but I am really looking forward to the start of another season.”
Q. Were there any parts that you worked on in terms of technology and training? “I felt like I had a decent amount of practice time, so I didn’t really get my swing back, but I felt like I kept practicing how I felt.”
Q. You won your rookie year and earned this berth, how do you feel coming this week?
“This is a match where you can’t come unless you really win, so the number of professionals is very small, so I want to do my best. I think it will be a match with a different atmosphere than usual, so I hope I can enjoy it well.”
Q. What is your overall impression of this course?
“The greens are very fast and there are many areas around the greens where it would be bad if you dropped them, so I would like to be conscious of those areas and deal with them well.”
Q. Is there anything you would like to improve from last year to this year? “I would like to continue to improve my approach techniques.” Q. What are your goals for this week and this year?
“Hopefully I can have some fun this week and play my game.

Q. This is your second time participating in this race. What is your impression of this course?
“The greens are fast, and I have the impression that the area around the greens is difficult.”
Q. Are the greens faster than last year?
“Last year was also early, but the rain made the greens a little softer, so this year is faster.”
Q. So is this week’s key point around the green?
“I think so. And the tee shot as well.”
Q. What are you looking forward to in this week’s pro-am competition? “It’s a match with many famous athletes, singers, and celebrities, and it’s a rare experience, so I’m looking forward to it.
Q. Lastly, please tell us your goals for this year and goals for this week! “I hope I can finish this season in good health and without injury. ◆◆◆◆◆【WOWOW LPGA Broadcast Schedule】◆◆◆◆◆
