NIGHTTIME ART FAIR, SHIMANTO
Overview of NIGHTTIME ART FAIR, SHIMANTO
[Planning background]
In recent years, the purchase of art works has attracted attention for the purpose of enriching one’s own life and private life, and art fairs are held mainly in urban areas such as Tokyo, Osaka, and Kyoto. However, most of these events are held for art collectors and intellectuals, making it difficult for the general public to participate. This project is an “art fair where you can stay overnight” held at night for guests of Hotel Matsubagawa Onsen. At your own pace, you can face the work at your own pace, learn about the charm and background of the work, and enjoy the food, forest walks, and hot springs of Shimanto, which are also local tourism resources, while purchasing works that you feel attached to. For that reason, it is held mainly at night when you can relax. Please enjoy a new experience of the region and art.

Venue: About Hotel Matsubagawa Onsen
The venue, Hotel Matsubagawa Onsen, is a hot spring inn located in a mountain village in Shimanto Town, Kochi Prefecture, where the Hinoji River flows, one of the sources of Japan’s last clear stream, the Shimanto River. It is characterized by its slippery water quality, and it is said to be a miraculous hot spring that is effective against all kinds of illnesses because it is effective in preventing coldness after bathing.
Since it is a mountain village inn, there is nothing in the
surrounding area. However, there are mountains and valleys that change with the seasons, and above all, the delicious air and beautiful stars in the night sky that will make you forget the hustle and bustle of the city. You can also enjoy meals that use ingredients unique to Shimanto, such as “Shimanto eel”, “Ayu with roe”, and “Niita rice” raised in the clear stream.
We hope that you will have the best time at Shimanto’s inner parlor “Hotel Matsubagawa Onsen” and refresh your mind and body. increase. [Image 8

NIGHTTIME ART FAIR, SHIMANTO Executive Committee Keiichiro Tao Japan’s art market is booming, led by art fairs and department stores in urban areas. Sales and rental services by companies have also come to be seen here and there. But even so, am I the only one who can’t get rid of the impression that the art collection is only for a limited number of people?
Art, centered on Western art and contemporary art, provides us with extraordinary experiences, but for Japanese people, art, like Japanese art and folk art, is something that should be loved in everyday life, feeling the four seasons and coloring life. There was also. “NIGHTTIME ART FAIR, SHIMANTO” is an experience that combines regional tourism such as the rich nature of the region, the taste of winter, and hot springs with art collections. In today’s world where events that attract customers such as regional art festivals face challenges, we propose a new model of Japanese-style community x art.
