Since small electric mobility such as electric scooters is new to the world and to Japan, each country is searching for rules for safe and convenient driving as it spreads. In Japan, electric kickboards fall under the standards for motorized bicycles when combined with safety standards, so the driving rules for motorized bicycles were applied, but the rules for the new small electric mobility group that appeared on the market didn’t exist yet. In addition, since vehicles that do not meet safety standards can be easily purchased at home appliance mass retailers and EC sites, there is a problem that illegal driving by electric scooter vehicles that are not allowed to run on public roads is unending. bottom.
Since 2019, Luup has conducted demonstration experiments of electric kickboards on more than 30 private and public lands nationwide and listened to the voices of everyone in the city. After a demonstration experiment on the university campus in 2019 and a demonstration experiment on public roads as a motorized bicycle in 2020, from April 2021, we will participate in demonstration experiments by related ministries and agencies for rule development, electric kickboards. started providing sharing services.
We believe that the establishment of traffic rules exclusively for electric small mobility vehicles such as electric scooters for the first time is a step forward toward the safe spread of new mobility.
