■ Background/Purpose
In May 2022, Zenshinren established the Zenshinren Ukrainian “Heart Care” Exchange Center to provide mental care to people who have been evacuated from Ukraine. As a place where Ukrainian refugees can feel at ease, we hold seasonal exchange meetings and think about problems in life together so that they can easily gather like family at any time. We have provided support for each individual.
On January 9th, Japan’s coming-of-age ceremony, people in Japan can celebrate with their families, but those who have been evacuated from Ukraine cannot celebrate their coming-of-age with their families. I wanted to be able to celebrate this milestone in my life in Japan, so I organized the Coming-of-Age Celebration for Ukrainian Refugees. On the day of the event, we will collaborate with volunteers, and “professionals who listen to stories*” (Zenshinren certified professional psychological counselors) will celebrate together with the Ukrainian refugees who are coming of age.

Listening Professional (Professional Psychological Counselor) A “professional listening” is a person who has the “Professional Psychological Counselor” national unified certification for
psychological counselors officially recognized by Zenshinren. A professional psychological counselor who is useful in the field listens carefully to the voice of the client’s mind, listens closely, accepts it, and provides emotional support through dialogue. Since it is important to accept the client and listen to everything, rather than judging the client based on their knowledge, we have named our professional psychological counselors “professionals who listen to stories.”
Unlike the psychological counselor qualifications issued by each organization, the Professional Psychological Counselor was established as a qualification that considers the elements necessary for a professional psychological counselor and supports working adults in aiming to become mental experts. In addition to psychology knowledge, various skills, and track record of on-site training, social experience, ethics, and the self-growth of the counselor can be comprehensively judged and acquired.
