NEC collaborates with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government to hold an industry-government collaboration event “TOKYO Mimi College” online
In collaboration with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, NEC will hold the industry-government collaboration event “TOKYO Mimi College” online on February 22nd and 23rd with the aim of deepening
understanding and interest in hearing impairment.
At this event, NEC will hold a “workshop to learn Japanese sign language and international sign language while having fun” by employee volunteers who can speak sign language. Also, at the beginning of the workshop, we will introduce NEC’s speech recognition technology that performs real-time transcription for online distribution.
As part of its corporate citizenship activities related to inclusion and diversity, NEC has been the sole sponsor of the National High School Sign Language Speech Contest (Note 1) for about 40 years. In addition, based on a partnership agreement (Note 2) with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government’s Bureau of Social Welfare and Public Health concluded in 2016, we are collaborating with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government to promote the use of the Help Mark and hold lectures to support the communication of intractable diseases for medical and welfare workers. I have been working on it.
Going forward, NEC will continue to promote activities based on close mutual cooperation and collaboration with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, leveraging each other’s strengths to promote the independence and social participation of people with disabilities. We aim to create social value as set out in our raison d’etre.
