Utilizing fruits and vegetables from Odawara such as blueberries and green mandarin oranges

Co-op Pal System Kanagawa (Headquarters: Shin-Yokohama, Kohoku-ku, Yokohama City, Chairman: Junko Fujita) used Odawara ingredients at Flat Pal Chigasaki in Chigasaki City from 11:00 to 13:00 on Sunday, February 5. We will hold a parent-child confectionery making class. In collaboration with students from Nihon University College of Bioresource Sciences Department of Food Business, we will spread understanding in the region for the promotion of local production for local consumption.
Understanding how rice flour can improve food self-sufficiency In the cooking class, you will make sweets using blueberry jam and green mandarin orange syrup made from processed fruits and vegetables produced at Joy Farm Odawara, a direct production area of Pal System (Sogagishi, Odawara City, CEO Hironobu Torii). The lecturer is a student of Nihon University College of Bioresource Sciences Department of Food Business (Kameino, Fujisawa City).
Participating parents and children will make original recipes “Rice Flour Blueberry Muffins” and “Ao Mandarin Syrup French Toast” created by students who are learning the importance of local production for local consumption to improve the domestic food self-sufficiency rate. While food prices are soaring, we will practice local production for local consumption with recipes that use rice flour that can be produced domestically, and support food education for parents and children.
Supporting student learning through industry-academia collaboration From June 2022, Pal System Kanagawa has started collaborating with Professor Tokuya Kawate and Associate Professor Atsuko Tanime of the same department. Cooking classes are held at the suggestion of students who have come into contact with the appeal of food, cooperating with students to visit production areas and learn about the background of Pal System product development.
This will be the first collaboration event with students, and will realize industry-academia collaboration between co-ops, production areas, and educational institutions.
