2023 Car Life Awareness Survey for 20-Year-Olds ~ Average monthly take-home income considered necessary for car life is 251,000 yen, maximum budget for car purchases is 2,013,000 yen, etc. (2nd round)
Sony Assurance Co., Ltd. (President: Atsuo Niwa, Headquarters: Ota-ku, Tokyo, hereinafter referred to as “Sony Assurance”) announced that it will provide three days from November 17th to November 19th, 2022 and from April 2nd, 2002. We conducted an online survey on car life awareness among 20-year-olds born on April 1, 2003, and obtained valid responses from 1,000 people.
*Until last year, this survey had been conducted as the “Survey of New Adults’ Car Life Awareness”, but due to the lowering of the adult age in April 2022, the title has been changed to “Survey of 20-Year-Old Car Life Awareness”.

Average is 918,000 yen We asked questions about the cost of living with a car (car life) and the budget for purchasing a car.
When all 1,000 respondents were asked how much monthly take-home income they think is necessary to live a life with a car (car life), “160,000 to 200,000 yen” (30.7%) and “21 10,000 yen to 250,000 yen” (12.9%) and “260,000 yen to 300,000 yen” (15.2%) increased, and the average amount was 251,000 yen.

Also, when asked how much they could spend a month for a life with a car (car life), the average amount was 17,162 yen.
Comparing the average amount with past survey results, it increased by 1,252 yen from 15,910 yen in 2022 to 17,162 yen in 2023, returning to the level of 2018 and 2019.

When asked about the upper limit of the budget when purchasing a car, the average amount was 2,013,000 yen.
By gender, the average upper budget limit for men was 2,163,000 yen, which was 301,000 yen higher than that for women (1,862,000 yen). [Image 4

Furthermore, when asked how much they would like their parents or relatives to help with the purchase of a car, 23.7% answered “310,000 to 500,000 yen” and “510,000 to 100 yen.” 10,000 yen” (26.3%) increased, and the average amount was 918,000 yen.
