-Aiming to realize a decarbonized society through seminars and hands-on workshops to think about decarbonization-

Yokohama City and Tokyu Corporation (hereafter, Tokyu) aim to realize a decarbonized society based on the “Agreement on the Promotion of Next-generation Suburban Town Development *1” (hereafter, this agreement), which was renewed in April 2022. As a specific activity, the “Zero Carbon Festa starting from Den-en-toshi (hereafter, this project)” will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2023.
With the cooperation of companies and educational institutions along the Tokyu Den-en-toshi Line, we will hold seminars and hands-on workshops to learn and think about decarbonization with local residents, and to change behavior toward the realization of a decarbonized society. urge.

“Next Generation Suburban Town Development” is a
resident-participation/problem-solving type of
community-participation/problem-solving project that aims to solve various problems faced by existing towns through
industry-university-public collaboration in suburban residential areas along the Tokyu Den-en-toshi Line in the northern part of Yokohama City. Yokohama City and Tokyu have been working on this project since 2012.
In 2022, in addition to this project, we will make use of local assets such as local connections and nature, and make use of parks, which are familiar public spaces, to experience a free and rich new lifestyle. , Working and Enjoying Park Festa” and “Pro Bono Practical Lectures*2” aimed at creating new ways of working in the community.
In the future, we will focus on the “Triangle Base WISE Living Lab (Utsukushigaoka, Aoba-ku, Yokohama City)*3” and “SPLUS Aobadai*4 (Aobadai, Aoba-ku, Yokohama City),” which are activity bases for next-generation suburban town planning. Through various initiatives such as study sessions to think about a decarbonized society together and educational events for local elementary and junior high school students, we will propose lifestyles toward a decarbonized society to local residents.

In order to realize the theme of the third term of this agreement, “living, working, and enjoying in Den-en-toshi,” activities and initiatives that propose new, free and prosperous lifestyles that make the most of local assets such as local ties and nature. In addition, we will introduce efforts toward decarbonization in FY2022.

(2) Keio University Izu Laboratory Children’s Workshop “Delicious, Healthy and Environmentally Friendly Recipe Making Game”
We will hold a recipe-making game that considers both the environment and health, developed by Keio University’s Itan Laboratory, with the aim of raising awareness of the environment in addition to
deliciousness, health, and nutritional balance. We will hold hands-on workshops that will give you an opportunity to think about
eco-friendly recipes by experiencing how much CO2 emissions differ depending on the ingredients used and the production area from the weight.

(3) Yokohama Aoba Wheat Project “Sale of products using rice and Aoba wheat from Jike Furusato Village (planned)”
In Jike Furusato Mura, located in Jikemachi, Aoba Ward, you can see the scenery of Yato, the original landscape of Yokohama. We are planning to sell rice balls and bread using rice from Jike Furusato Village and wheat from Aoba Ward.
The Yokohama Aoba Wheat Project is a local production for local consumption project using wheat grown in Aoba Ward. Efforts of “local production for local consumption”, which consumes local agricultural products in the region, reduce CO2 emissions from transportation and lead to decarbonization.

2. Nobel Prize Candidate Tsutomu Miyasaka Lecture “Society of Local Energy Production and Local Consumption Opened by Perovskite Solar Cells”
The “perovskite solar cell” developed by Tsutomu Miyasaka, specially appointed professor at Toin Gakuen Toin University of Yokohama, is expected to be a next-generation energy source from Aoba Ward. It is cheaper and lighter than existing solar cells, and can be used flexibly, and is expected to greatly contribute to energy
conservation. In the lecture, Mr. Miyasaka, a developer and a Nobel Prize candidate, will explain the characteristics and possibilities of perovskite solar cells in an easy-to-understand manner.

“Cloth made from wood: Dyeing workshop using traditional techniques using Soaron”
