Yokohama Hakkeijima Co., Ltd.
[Maxell Aqua Park Shinagawa] We will hold a Valentine event unique to “Aqua Park” that delivers a heartwarming scene that conveys gratitude and the world of “love” of living things. “Aqua Valentine Week” Date: February 6th (Mon) to 14th (Tue), 2023

“Maxell Aqua Park Shinagawa” (Location: Shinagawa Prince Hotel, 4-10-30 Takanawa, Minato-ku, Tokyo, Director: Akiko Yamada) will be held for 9 days from February 6th (Monday) to 14th (Tuesday), 2023. We will hold “Aqua Valentine Week” to convey the charm of living things using items and stories unique to Valentine.
Due to changes in the background and values of the times,
Valentine’s Day is now not only a day to express love, but also a day to express gratitude to those around you. We will arrange such a heartful event unique to winter and develop two contents. One of them is “Heartful Communication Time”, where the breeding staff give gifts of gratitude to Asian small-clawed otters and spotted seals living on Wild Street, and you can see heart-warming communication using heart-shaped items.
The other is an official Twitter-linked project that focuses on breeding and symbiotic creatures. Every day during the period, various “shapes of love” of living creatures will be expressed in dramatic phrases and posted, and a limited-time species name board “Love Fish Encyclopedia” will be set up in the museum where you can learn more about the posted content.
Our museum has been incorporating seasonal themes and “entertainment” elements as a means of conveying the charm of the world of the sea. Together with the ongoing “NAKED SNOW AQUARIUM”, we will deliver an event related to Valentine’s Day to liven up the “winter” of the aqua park and introduce various creatures and their ecology.
Small-clawed Otter and Spotted Seal’s “Heartful Communication Time” Small-clawed otter
Communication unique to Valentine’s Day, where they use their habit of sticking their hands into gaps and holes in rocks to catch food, and find heart-shaped stones hidden in aquariums. You can see the heartwarming scene of handing the found “heart” to the breeding staff, and the excellent swimming ability and manual dexterity of
small-clawed otters. In addition, the staff will present heart-shaped jelly and ice with gratitude.

In the exhibition room, in addition to toys such as balls and rings introduced as part of enrichment, heart-shaped items related to Valentine’s Day are installed. It depends on Yuumi’s mood as to which one she will deliver to the hand sign that says, “Bring me a heart!” Through pleasant communication with the breeding staff, we will introduce plenty of Yuumi’s adorable appearance and smartness. Official Twitter-linked project “Fish Encyclopedia in Love”
Unrequited love, mutual love, dependence, business partners, etc. Just like humans, there are various forms of “love” in living things. Focusing on the unusual approaches and relationships of the creatures living in the museum, we will dramatically introduce them on the official Twitter every day during the exhibition. In the museum, the species name board “Love Fish Encyclopedia”, which digs deeper into the posted content, is installed in each aquarium, and by reading the QR code on it, you can learn more about the ecology and the meaning of behavior. .
