Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium has implemented an educational program that connects remote areas online while human interaction has been cut off due to the pandemic. So far, we have interacted with 3,673 people on a total of 134 occasions, mainly at pediatric wards of hospitals in Japan.
This time, the program will be held at David Kaunda School in Zambia, where Rocinantes is active. Next, we plan to hold the event at a children’s hospital in Chuo Province. Children in Zambia who do not have the opportunity to interact with sea creatures and the
environment can connect with the aquarium online and learn
interactively through guides by researchers and curators. By providing such learning opportunities, it is expected that mutual international understanding between Japan and Zambia will deepen.
