About “KOBE Re:Public Art Project”
Entrusted by Avex Entertainment Inc. from Kobe City, it is an attempt to create a new form of public art that is not bound by conventional frameworks. It started in September 2022 with Mirai Moriyama as the main curator.
Artists working in various fields will stay for a certain period of time at artist-in-residences in Kobe City, and while walking (researching) based on the theme “Anthropocene,” they will explore the local community from the artist’s perspective and approach. The purpose is to create new value in Kobe and discover new attractions of Kobe (tourism resources).
▶︎ Research activities
From November to December 2022, research activities using the artist-in-residence system were carried out, including contemporary artists, architects, musicians, photographers, dancers, chefs, and directors. Artists active in various fields will stay in various areas of Kobe, take walks with coordinators who are familiar with the local area, and engage in dialogue about the attractions and issues of the area. It was a valuable opportunity to discover new charms of Kobe (tourist tour resources) by combining the artist’s new perspectives with the many works of “Basho”.
