Tsushima, an island with the largest amount of marine debris in Japan Tsushima, Nagasaki Prefecture, is a “border island” that floats between Kyushu and the Korean Peninsula. In ancient times, it prospered as a base for trade and exchange with the mainland, and even now it is an attractive island where its unique nature, history, and culture remain strong. However, currently, Tsushima is faced with the unreasonable reality that the largest amount of marine debris in Japan is washed ashore due to the effects of ocean currents and monsoons.
