The “Reader’s Choice Business Book Grand Prix 2023” is an award held for the purpose of selecting and awarding “books to read now” that are useful for business, and will be the eighth time this year. This time, out of the 118 entries, a general vote was held to select business books that were considered “beneficial” and “practical” from all six categories and Grand Prix candidates. We will announce the
award-winning works in the general vote and the special award works awarded to the books selected from sales. Both the number of voters (up 24% from the previous year) and the total number of votes (up 13% from the previous year) were record highs.
Yoshitaka Yanagida, director of GLOBIS University Graduate School of Management, said the following about “How to Use Limited Time,” which won the special award “GLOBIS University Graduate School of Management Award”.
This award is given with the hope that it will be read for a long time with a highly universal theme. Last year, at the 2022 New Word and Buzzword Contest, the word “taipa” was selected as the new word of the year. Taipa is an abbreviation for “time performance”, which means efficiency over time. With all things progressing rapidly due to the evolution of technology, it is natural that “Taipa” is emphasized. This book, How to Use Your Limited Time, emphasizes the importance of “living a rich life” rather than “efficiency,” and can be seen as an antithesis to a world that emphasizes taipa. The message written in this book overlaps with the message that GLOBIS Graduate School of Management, which is a place for developing the skills of working people, building human networks, and fostering aspirations, wants to convey to business people. was selected.
■ Award-winning works
The books selected by public vote from all 6 categories
(self-development category, innovation category, management category, politics/economics category, liberal arts category, business practice category) and the “General Grand Prix” are as follows. In addition to each category, special awards were given to books selected from sales, including the “Long-Seller Award” and the “Globis Graduate School of Management Award.”
