From January 21, 2023 (Saturday), on the JR Hokkaido Senmo Main Line (between Higashi-Kushiro and Abashiri), in conjunction with the start of operation of the “SL Fuyu no Shitsugen-go” (operating section: between Kushiro and Shibecha), inside and outside Hokkaido The event was held at Tancho Kushiro Airport, the gateway to eastern Hokkaido, where visitors from all over the world come from. We look forward to seeing many of you there.
About SL Fuyu no Shitsugen
The SL Fuyu-no-Shitsugen-go is a sightseeing train that represents Hokkaido, and began operation in 2000 as a winter tradition of Eastern Hokkaido, connecting Kushiro Station to Shibecha Station. From the train windows along the route, you can see Kushiro Marsh, Japan’s largest wetland, and large wild animals such as red-crowned cranes, Yezo deer, and Steller’s sea eagles that are often seen in eastern Hokkaido.

Kushiro National College of Technology Railway Club
The Kushiro Technical College Railway Club is currently active with five members. With the motto, “Let’s get to know the goodness and depth of railways,” each member freely engages in activities (mainly riding trains, taking pictures of trains, etc.). Last year’s main activity was the holding of the first railroad photo exhibition, bringing together railroad photos taken by each club member. In addition, we volunteered to clean up steam locomotives statically preserved around the school, and exhibited and helped out at a railroad event held in Kushiro, our hometown.
In the future, I would like to spread the goodness of the railway from Kushiro, eastern Hokkaido.

National Institute of Technology, Kushiro College, located in the eastern part of Hokkaido, is a technical institution of higher education. We provide career advancement education for employees, lifelong education for local residents, and support for social activities. In order to enhance the learning environment as an institution of higher education rooted in the local community, from 2016 we will change from the previous five department system to one department (Department of Creative Engineering) with three courses (Smart Mechanics Course, Electronics Course and Architectural Design Course). was reorganized into a new organization, and now has four centers added to it.
