Pola Museum of Art
Opening of “Dreams in the Room: From Bonnard to Tillmans and Contemporary Artists”
First release of 12 new collections! A variety of indoor expressions by 9 groups of artists full of individuality Dates: January 28th (Sat) – July 2nd (Sun), 2023
At the Pola Museum of Art, from Saturday, January 28, 2023 to Sunday, July 2, 2023, “Dreams in the Room: From Bonnard to Tillmans and Contemporary Artists” is being held.
Since the pandemic, our way of life has changed a lot. In a situation where movement was restricted, everyone spent a lot of time in a space called a “room.” Living indoors, which brought me peace of mind, was side by side with a sense of blockage due to the isolation from the outside world. On the other hand, it can be said that the
relationships with close people and irreplaceable things that were woven in a closed space were indispensable not only for surviving everyday life, but also for adding color to a life that lacked change. I guess.
In this exhibition, we will focus on a variety of expressions related to rooms, from 19th-century interior paintings to contemporary artists who reflect the post-stay-at-home sensibility of living in the present. We will reconsider how intimate memories and dreams are made. Nine groups of artists are introduced in separate spaces, and there is no fixed route within the venue. Please pick up the venue map distributed at the entrance and enjoy the “rooms” of each artist. ■Main exhibition scenery
