One year after the invasion of Ukraine Forum for thinking about sustainable peace Today, February 23 (Wednesday) 17:00 online delivery Achieving Peace through Citizens Thinking Together Across Borders
On the occasion of the one year anniversary of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Peace Boat and Palsystem Federation, members of ICAN (International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons), held a forum today, Thursday, February 23, at 5:00 p.m. Sustainable Peace!” Citizen activists who are familiar with the history and situation of both countries will report on the current situation and think about what citizens can do to bring about an early ceasefire.
Local report from Ukraine
Tomorrow marks one year since the Russian invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022. With the current situation where the fighting is still uncertain, the forum will consider support for refugees and the realization of a ceasefire from the perspective of citizens. International NGOs and UN officials involved in the support and reconstruction of refugees in Ukraine and neighboring countries, as well as those engaged in peace activities in Ukraine, a
conflict-affected country, and neighboring regions will be invited online and field reports will be given.
The results of this event will be widely disseminated to the international community, and Peace Boat and the Palsystem Federation will submit a written opinion addressed to the UN Secretary General together with supporting organizations to UN agencies.
