I am very honored to be able to participate in this project as one of the people who visits bookstores on a regular basis. For me, the “bookstore” is a presence that gives me a lot of imagination. From the 10 books I have selected this time, I have received many ideas that I would never have come up with on my own. I hope everyone will use this project as an opportunity to visit bookstores and get a lot of imagination from books! I also want to visit various bookstores. About the “#Thursday is today” project
In recent years, due to the rise of e-books and the increase in the online purchase rate of books, the number of bookstores nationwide has decreased dramatically (there were 21,495 bookstores in 2000, but 11,024* in 2020, about half). increase. In response to this
predicament, our association started the “#Thursday is Monday” project from Thursday, October 6th, aiming to create a habit of visiting the bookstore once a week. In the “#Thursday is Monday” project, more than 10 people who love bookstores and books select “books that changed their lives”, and videos of their encounters and episodes with books at bookstores are released sequentially. We will sell selected books at about 180 bookstores affiliated with our association. We will enliven the bookstore through various initiatives such as the installation of store posters and banners, and the distribution of the purchase bonus “#Thursday is a limited edition bookmark”.

About the Tokyo Bookstore Commercial Association
The Tokyo Bookstore Commercial Association is organized around small and medium-sized bookstores (town bookstores) in Tokyo. It originated from the “Tokyo Book Dealers Association” established in 1888, and continues to this day. In order for the local bookstores to survive, we are working on promoting reading, increasing sales, joint purchasing, improving transaction conditions, etc. We will continue to work with pride in the fact that we can make a great contribution to society by continuing to operate a local bookstore that can directly deliver many good books to customers.
