Top performers of Japanese speech contests from the US and Canada come to Japan! We will promote understanding of Japan through
people-to-people exchanges and Japanese cultural experiences. 12 Japanese speech contest winners (USA) and 18 Japanese language learners (Canada) were invited to visit Tokyo, Yokohama and Kamakura, deepen their understanding of Japan, International exchange.
The “Interchange Program for Promoting Understanding of Japan” is an international exchange project promoted by the Japanese government. Invite and dispatch. Promote understanding of Japan in terms of politics, economy, society, culture, history, and foreign policy through people-to-people exchanges. The aim is to strengthen Japan’s diplomatic base by encouraging people to actively communicate with the world.
The Kakehashi Project is an exchange program for the North American region of the “Interchange Program for Promoting Understanding of Japan.” Due to travel restrictions due to the spread of the new coronavirus infection, the program was conducted online in 2020 and 2021. In 2022, along with the easing of travel restrictions, we have decided to implement an invitation program for Japanese language learners (Canada) and Japanese speech contest winners (USA). This time, we will interact with students from Kanagawa University and the United States-Canadian Center for Japanese Studies. In addition, visits to Tokyo, Yokohama, and Kamakura will deepen your understanding of the Japanese language and culture.
Canadian and American university students deepen their understanding of Japan’s politics, economy, society, culture, history, and foreign policy, and deepen exchanges among participants to strengthen their networks. Furthermore, the aim is to have the participants actively communicate the appeal of Japan through exchanges at relevant places in Japan. This program is an invitation program carried out as part of the Kakehashi Project, an international exchange project promoted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan called the “Exchange Program for Promoting Understanding of Japan.”
